  • Braves' Ian Anderson: Rehab shifting to Double-A

Anderson (elbow) will make a rehab appearance with Double-A Rome on Friday.

Anderson last pitched June 30 and completed three innings with Single-A Augusta. It's expected that he will make at least one additional rehab outing after Friday's start, though Atlanta will likely want to see Anderson ramp up his workload after throwing 46 pitches in his previous outing.

  • Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Slugs 24th homer

Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

The All-Star slugger singled in his first at-bat before coming home on a Travis d'Arnaud double in the second as Atlanta took an early 2-0 lead. Ozuna then launched a 441-foot home run in the eighth to score Austin Riley and tie the game at 5-5. It was Ozuna's second consecutive two-hit performance, and he's now fourth in the majors with 24 long balls on the season, and third in RBI with 75. He's batting .257 (9-for-35) in July with three homers, eight RBI and seven runs scored.

  • Braves' Charlie Morton: Allows two homers in no-decision

Morton did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, allowing four runs on five hits over 6.1 innings while striking out five.

Most of the damage against Morton came in the second and third innings when the veteran surrendered home runs to Eugenio Suarez and Ketel Marte. The right-hander would then cruise through the next three frames before being relieved by Pierce Johnson with one out in the seventh, though a fourth run ended up being charged to Morton's ledger. The 40-year-old has now allowed two home runs in back-to-back starts and has given up at least three runs in four of his last six outings. However, he's also tallied five or more strikeouts in three consecutive starts.

  • Braves' J.P. Martinez: Outrighted to Triple-A

Martinez cleared waivers Wednesday and was sent outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Atlanta pushed Martinez off its 40-man roster Monday in order to clear a spot for Eddie Rosario, and he'll officially remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 28-year-old has slashed .241/.332/.357 with 15 RBI across 257 plate appearances with the Stripers.

  • Braves' Dylan Lee: Back in majors

Atlanta recalled Lee from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.

Lee was dispatched to the minors on Monday, and he'll now be called upon to replace AJ Smith-Shawver, who was optioned to Triple-A. Lee has emerged as a reliable option out of the bullpen for Atlanta, logging a 2.00 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 36 innings, though the amount of talent in the team's bullpen has limited him to a middle-relief role.

  • Braves' Brian Anderson: Returns from injured list

Atlanta reinstated Anderson (illness) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

The 31-year-old landed on the shelf in late June with a bacterial infection and will rejoin the active roster after a three-game rehab stint with Triple-A Gwinnett. Anderson signed a big-league contract with Atlanta in early June but saw action in just three games prior to landing on the injured list.

  • Braves' Ramon Laureano: Lands on injured list

Atlanta placed Laureano on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left oblique strain.

Laureano has not played in a game since June 26, and Atlanta has now officially given in and ruled him out for the remainder of the first half of the season. His move to the IL is retroactive to Tuesday, so the 29-year-old outfielder will be eligible to return to the active roster immediately after the All-Star break. Brian Anderson (illness) was reinstated from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move in order to fill the opening in Atlanta's outfield unit.

  • Braves' Adam Duvall: Swats key home run in win

Duvall went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Duvall powered Atlanta's offense with a huge three-run blast in the sixth to push his team out to a 5-0 lead. He punished an 0-2 curveball from Zac Gallen and subsequently ended Gallen's night. Tuesday was Duvall's third multi-hit effort over his last seven games. He's been seeing the ball much better as of late, slashing .310/.356/.548 with seven RBI and four runs scored in 11 games since June 28. Duvall is still working to get his season-long numbers up, as he's hitting just .191/.260/.336 with eight homers, 25 RBI, 22 runs and an 18:69 BB:K in 242 plate appearances.

Sale kept the Diamondbacks scoreless through five frames before a single and a triple in the sixth scored their first run and knocked Sale out of the game. A second run wound up being charged to the lefty before the inning ended. Sale has now allowed two runs or fewer in six straight starts and has piled up a 54:12 K:BB in 37.1 innings over that span. He now owns a 2.74 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 136:22 K:BB in 105 innings this year and is in line to make one final start before the All-Star break this weekend against the Padres.

Atlanta activated Smith-Shawver (oblique) from the 15-day injured Tuesday.

The young right-hander struck out four and allowed one run over two innings in his lone rehab appearance last week with High-A Rome. Smith-Shawver went 4.1 shutout frames in his lone start this season for Atlanta back in late May before exiting with a strained oblique.

  • Braves' Sean Murphy: Slugs clutch homer

Murphy went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 5-4 extra-innings win against the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Atlanta was down to its last out when Murphy tied the score with his two-run blast off Arizona closer Paul Sewald in the top of the ninth inning. The clutch long ball was Murphy's second over his past four games, though he has only one other hit during that stretch. The veteran backstop went deep a career-high 21 times last season and has five homers through 29 contests during the current campaign.
