  • Marlins' Dane Myers: Sitting Thursday

Myers isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros.

Myers will get a breather Thursday after going 6-for-14 with a homer and three RBI over his last five games. While he rests, Bryan De La Cruz, Nick Gordon and Jesus Sanchez will start across Miami's outfield.

  • Marlins' Bryan Hoeing: Struggles against Astros

Hoeing (0-2) allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits and a walk while striking out one over three innings to take the loss versus the Astros on Wednesday.

Hoeing completed three innings again, but the Astros established a large lead after the second frame. The 27-year-old has taken the loss in both of his starts since joining the Marlins' rotation, and he's not fully stretched out after throwing just 62 pitches (39 strikes) Wednesday. He's at a 3.16 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB through 25.2 innings over 13 appearances, though he's had more success as a reliever. It's unclear if Hoeing will remain in the rotation following the All-Star break.

  • Marlins' Jesus Sanchez: Idle against lefty

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

The lefty-hitting Sanchez will take a seat Wednesday with southpaw Framber Valdez on the bump for Houston. With Sanchez on the bench, Josh Bell will get a day out of the field and will serve as the Marlins' designated hitter.

  • Marlins' Vidal Brujan: Heading to bench Wednesday

Brujan is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Brujan has emerged as the Marlins' primary option at the keystone since Otto Lopez (back) was placed on the injured list last week. Though Jonah Bride will get the nod at second base Wednesday, Brujan had started in each of the previous seven games while going 3-for-23 with two doubles, one stolen base, four walks, six runs and two RBI.

  • Marlins' Nick Fortes: Hitting bench Wednesday

Fortes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Fortes will get a rest after he was behind the plate for both of the previous two games while going 1-for-6 with a double, an RBI and a run. Ali Sanchez will catch for starting pitcher Bryan Hoeing on Wednesday.

  • Marlins' Matt Andriese: Sent outright to Triple-A

The Marlins outrighted Andriese to Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.

Andriese has now cleared waivers twice this season after being removed from Miami's 40-man roster. Andriese could have elected free agency, but he looks as though he'll be receptive to returning to Jacksonville.

  • Marlins' Jesus Sanchez: Reaches 10-homer mark

Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Astros.

Sanchez has gone 8-for-24 (.333) with three homers and five RBI over his first seven games in July. The outfielder had all of three long balls in June, so it's unclear if he'll be able to sustain his recent uptick in power. For the season, he's at a .240/.291/.407 slash line, 10 homers, 34 RBI, 26 runs scored and six stolen bases over 279 plate appearances. Sanchez is in a strong-side platoon role, primarily starting in right field or at designated hitter while competing with Dane Myers and Josh Bell for at-bats.

  • Marlins' Jazz Chisholm: Homer, steal in loss

Chisholm went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a stolen base and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Astros.

Chisholm has shown much more speed than power recently -- he has four steals over his last five games, and his homer Tuesday was his first since June 13. The 26-year-old is up to 11 long balls, 18 thefts, 41 RBI, 39 runs scored and a .258/.328/.417 slash line through 88 contests. Chisholm's rate stats are roughly in line with his career norms, but staying healthy has kept him on track to put up personal bests in most -- if not all -- of the counting-stat categories.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Decent in no-decision

Rogers allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Tuesday.

Rogers put in a decent effort, but he exited the game with the Marlins down 2-1. They were able to erase that deficit but couldn't find the lead in the late innings. Rogers has gone six starts without allowing more than three runs, though he's walked multiple batters in four of those outings. The southpaw is at a 4.82 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 75:41 K:BB through 89.2 innings over 18 starts. Rogers remains in search of his second win of the year, and he's projected to make his next start on the road at hitter-friendly Cincinnati.

  • Marlins' Dane Myers: Taking seat Tuesday

Myers is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Astros.

Myers had started three straight games in right field, but he'll yield to Jesus Sanchez on Tuesday. Myers went 5-for-10 with a three-run home run and a double across those three starts.

  • Marlins' Adam Oller: Receives MiLB deal from Miami

Oller agreed to a minor-league contract with Miami on Tuesday, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 in Houston reports.

Oller was released by the Guardians last week after posting a 7.48 ERA and 33:18 K:BB over 27.2 innings with Triple-A Columbus. The 29-year-old holds an ugly 7.09 ERA over 28 appearances (15 starts) at the major-league level, but he could get a shot eventually with the Marlins, perhaps after they unload assets at the trade deadline and need someone to fill innings.

  • Marlins' JT Chargois: Nabs first win of season

Chargois (1-0) picked up the win Sunday over the White Sox, giving up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning.

The right-hander was called in with the Marlins down 4-3 in the top of the ninth, and Chargois got rewarded for his efforts when Jake Burger walked it off with a three-run homer in the bottom of the frame. Chargois has been very effective since making his season debut in mid-June, posting a 1.69 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB through 10.2 innings, and he could be working his way into the high-leverage mix for the Marlins.

  • Marlins' Vidal Brujan: On base three times Sunday

Brujan went 1-for-2 with two walks, a double, two runs scored and an RBI in Sunday's win over the White Sox.

The 26-year-old infielder has scored at least one run in four straight games, reaching base seven times during that stretch on a single, two doubles and four free passes. Brujan is still slashing just .227/.308/.331 on the season, but he could be finding a groove at the plate with consistent playing time -- he's started six straight games at second base since the Marlins cut loose Tim Anderson at the beginning of the month and placed Otto Lopez (back) on the IL.
