  • Giants' LaMonte Wade: Nursing tight hamstring

Manager Bob Melvin said Thursday that Wade is dealing with tightness in his hamstring, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Wade was left out of the Giants' starting lineup for Thursday's game, and it's now been revealed that his absence is due to problems with his hamstring. Melvin noted that the 30-year-old first baseman will still likely be available for San Francisco's upcoming series versus Minnesota, but the team will take a day-to-day approach with him until the All-Star break.

Wade is out of the lineup Thursday against the Blue Jays, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

  • Giants' Jorge Soler: In Thursday's lineup

Soler (illness) will serve as San Francisco's designated hitter and bat leadoff Thursday against the Blue Jays, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

An illness caused Soler to sit down for the Giants' last two games, but he seems to be feeling well enough to return to action Thursday. The 32-year-old has been in a bit of a slump recently, going 4-for-28 (.160) with one RBI and nine strikeouts since the beginning of July.

Chapman hit one of two homers for the Giants in the ninth inning, but it was too late to generate a comeback. The third baseman has gone deep five times and added 13 RBI over his last 15 contests, a span in which he's batting .298 (17-for-57). For the year, he's up to 13 long balls, 43 RBI, 60 runs scored, 24 doubles, eight stolen bases and a .231/.322/.423 slash line through 90 games.

  • Giants' Logan Webb: Roughed up in loss

Webb (7-7) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Wednesday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and one walk over five innings while striking out four.

Webb started the game strong, striking out three of the first six batters he faced while holding the Blue Jays scoreless over the first four innings. However, things began to unravel for the veteran right-hander in the fifth when he surrendered a three-run shot to Ernie Clement after giving up singles to two of the first three batters in the frame. Webb returned for the sixth, but he failed to retire any of the first four batters he faced before being relieved by Sean Hjelle, who didn't fare much better. Webb was charged with a season-high seven runs on the night and was unable to get through six innings for the first time in his last 12 starts. He has also surrendered multiple runs in eight consecutive outings.

  • Giants' Erik Miller: Picks up third win

Miller (3-2) walked one and struck out one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the win Tuesday over the Blue Jays.

Miller worked the ninth inning with the Giants down by a run, and they were able to score twice in their half of the frame for the walk-off win. The southpaw's ability to pick up wins has been limited lately, as he saw steady usage as an opening pitcher when San Francisco's rotation was hammered by injuries in June. To his credit, he hasn't taken a loss since May 21, and he's yet to be on the hook for a loss in any of his nine starting assignments. Miller is on an eight-inning scoreless streak that has trimmed his ERA to 3.43 with a 1.19 WHIP and 46:22 K:BB through 42 innings this season. He's added 11 holds and three blown saves.

  • Giants' Brett Wisely: Provides clutch hitting

Wisely went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a steal in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Blue Jays.

Wisely stepped up to the plate in the ninth with two outs and runners on first and second with the Giants down a run. With two strikes on him, Wisely reached out his bat and made contact on a changeup that found a hole up the middle and scored the tying run while moving the other runner over to third. The Giants wound up winning the game on a wild pitch the next at-bat. The Giants designated Nick Ahmed for assignment Tuesday after activating Thairo Estrada and Wilmer Flores from the injured list, allowing Wisely to slide in as the team's new starting shortstop, though he'll likely end up platooning with Tyler Fitzgerald against lefty pitching. For the year, Wisely is slashing .285/.319/.423 with three homers, 16 RBI, 15 runs and a 6:32 BB:K in 139 plate appearances.

Fitzgerald then worked a walk in the ninth before eventually scoring the winning run on a wild pitch to walk off the game. Though he's yet to carve out a full-time role, Fitzgerald has done well with his opportunities, slashing .278/.337/.430 with two homers, seven RBI, 14 runs, seven steals and a 6:28 BB:K in 86 plate appearances.

  • Giants' Heliot Ramos: Stays hot with another homer

Ramos went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Tuesday's win over the Blue Jays.

Ramos opened up the scoring with a solo home run in the fourth off Yusei Kikuchi for his third homer in his last seven games. The first-time All-Star is swinging a hot bat once again after some struggles towards the end of June, as he's slashing .405/.439/.730 with seven RBI and eight runs scored over his last nine games. For the year, the 24-year-old is slashing .302/.372/.535 with 13 homers, 42 RBI, 27 runs and a 24:64 BB:K in 242 plate appearances. • Giants' Blake Snell: Strong start in return from injury

Snell (groin) didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Blue Jays. He tossed five scoreless innings, striking out three while allowing one hit and three walks.

Making his return from a stint on the 15-day injured list with a left groin strain, Snell carried a 9.51 ERA through his first six starts of the season but finally showcased a glimpse of the form he displayed throughout last year's Cy Young-winning campaign with the Padres. Snell was on a limited pitch count after making his first start in over a month, but he still managed to cover a season-high five innings on an efficient 73 pitches. His fastball topped out at 97.7 miles per hour, which was also a season high. Snell will look to push forward with one more solid start before the All-Star break; he's tentatively set to pitch over the weekend against the Twins.
