Yesterday's mid-term Roo2Res symposium was a success, unfolding exactly as planned!🎉 The event was marked by in-depth discussions between our interactive audience and an expert panel, who demonstrated keen interest in our preliminary results across all covered themes. We are now working on a summary report, expected to be circulated in September. This report will serve as a robust foundation for a follow-up article, which we aim to feature on our R2R website. In the attached photo, you can see some of the key participants: Dr Christina Baxter (ADAS), Katia BEAUCHENE (ARVALIS), Jean-Pierre COHAN (ARVALIS), Klem Karel (CzechGlobe), Edith Le Cadre (L'Institut Agro Rennes-Angers), and Natacha Bodenhausen (Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL). Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this symposium a productive and engaging event!🚀 #Roo2Res #Symposium #Research #Collaboration #Innovation #ESA2024 ARVALIS | The James Hutton Institute | ADAS | Agricultural Research Council | Aarhus University | Universität für Bodenkultur Wien | Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche | FEUGA. Healthy soils are the foundation of life on Earth 🌱🧪 Yet we know too little about how human land use and climate change impact soil health. We also lack an understanding of which organisms live in soils and their role in delivering crucial ecosystem functions and services. That’s where the EU project BIOservicES comes in. By analyzing 750 soil samples from 5 countries, 8 different land use types, and varying land use intensities, we're uncovering the intricate relationships that sustain our ecosystems. We’re also exploring the fascinating world of soil organisms, from tiny fungi and bacteria to earthworms, to better understand what lives beneath our feet. Our team from the soil science department is focusing on the Alpine region, with sampling in Grisons now complete after starting in early spring 2024. Stay tuned for groundbreaking findings! 👉 bioservices-project.eu Funded by the European Commission. #SoilHealth #Biodiversity #EcosystemServices #BIOservicES #HorizonEurope

Agrobiodiversity Summer School: Together for a diverse future! ☀️🌱 24 students from all over Europe discover the fascinating world of agrobiodiversity in Slovenia. Agrobiodiversity stands for the diversity of crops and animals and the wealth of practices and local knowledge relevant to agricultural production. The Summer School offers ten days of inspiration and practical insights into, for example, the conflicting objectives of the agricultural wetlands around Ljubljana, strategies for the conservation of the nitrate-sensitive black cave olm and vegetable production in the karst region. The aim is to learn how to contribute to the creation of resilient and locally adapted agricultural systems. The Summer School will take place again next year! It is organised by FiBL Switzerland, ZHAW Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften and University of Ljubljana. 👉 https://lnkd.in/g4aeHkr9 📷 by Fabienne Buchmann (ZHAW)

New handbook on contaminations in organic products Traces of pesticides in organic food are a controversial topic: on the one hand, consumers need to be protected from fraud. On the other hand, pesticides from conventional agriculture can be found everywhere. It is, therefore, sometimes difficult to identify the source and cause with certainty. The "Vade mecum on Official Investigations in Organic Products" now offers support in carrying out official investigations in the EU. FiBL Switzerland was involved in compiling the document. https://lnkd.in/dj9DERBi
