Creating a world where people live in harmony with nature. Together, anything is possible.
Info
Nature is our life-support system. That’s why WWF – an independent conservation organization active in nearly 100 countries – is tackling the deepening crisis of nature loss caused by human activities. Our ambition is to set nature on the path to recovery in the coming decade for the benefit of people and wildlife. Working with many others, we must protect and restore natural habitats, stop the mass extinction of wildlife, and make the way we produce and consume sustainable. ============ General information Thank you for joining the WWF LinkedIn community. Changing our ways can transform our planet! 🌍 Zinori Bikorwomuhangi, a former illegal forest harvester, now collaborates with his community to turn poachers into conservationists. Together, they’re planting more trees than they cut, protecting wildlife, and fostering sustainable livelihoods. Support these impactful efforts by sharing this post 🌱https://lnkd.in/eZ4S8pQS

What happens when you mix bees and elephants? In Zimbabwe, beehives serve as natural barriers, keeping elephants away from crops. This innovative solution protects harvests, provides alternative income during droughts, conserves wildlife, and supports local communities. https://lnkd.in/eJuXqr5p

Forests are vital to life on Earth, offering oxygen, water, and livelihoods. Community-led conservation is essential to their future. In Zambia, local heroes lead prescribed burns, safeguarding forests from wildfires and illegal logging. Together, they ensure these lifelines remain standing. https://lnkd.in/e2Z6jkSq #ConservationHeroes #CommunityPower

Writing in #Nature, I call on the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to make a bold statement on #ClimateChange: Protecting the climate system is impossible without also protecting the natural world and all states have an international law obligation to do so. The piece is an urgent call to scientists, citizens, and governments to do their part as the international court formulates a landmark judicial opinion on the responsibilities of states on climate change. The article builds on the detailed statement and evidence that @WWF has already submitted to the ICJ as part of this process, and calls on all governments to join our call. https://lnkd.in/dywGnUHR
The time to act is now: the world’s highest court must weigh in strongly on climate and nature

By combining their local culture and ancestral knowledge with formal protection, local communities in Kavewa, Fiji, are working together to build climate and community resilience to protect their Cakaulevu. 🤝 Cakaulevu, also known as Fiji’s Great Sea Reef, is the third-longest continuous barrier reef system in the world. 🌊 Its health is directly linked to the #IndigenousPeoples across Fiji who rely on its resources for their livelihood, well-being and culture. It also contributes to global climate resilience and food supply chains across the world. 🌏 Their inspiring efforts to protect this irreplaceable seascape are already reaping benefits… Find out more 👇 https://lnkd.in/evjTCBNP

🐨🍃 Meet Australia’s most famous koala - Claude! Dubbed the ‘leaf thief’, he was caught munching on $6,000 worth of eucalyptus seedlings last year at a local nursery, intended to be planted for native wildlife in the area. All fun aside, this uncommon behaviour shows that food sources are scarce, as koalas are not regular guests at the nursery. Thanks to the generous donations of WWF supporters, WWF-Australia was recently able to get his munched seedlings planted in the ground to support other koalas and wildlife in the area.
