Colorado Army National Guard Soldiers become lifesaving duo

Colorado Army National Guard Soldiers U.S. Army Pfc. Manuel Talamantes and Spc. Shane Valadez, currently serving on the Colorado Military Funeral Honors Team, were on the way back to their duty station at the Chestnut Armory, Colorado Springs, Colorado, after rendering honors at a funeral service in full dress uniform, June 14, 2024.

The Colorado National Guard’s High-Altitude Army National Guard Aviation Training Site hosted Charlie Duke, one of only 12 NASA astronauts to have walked on the moon, July 8, 2024.

U.S. Army Col. Laura Thomas, Colorado Army National Guard deployed with the 455th Expeditionary Medical Group at Craig Joint Theater Hospital at Bagram Airfield, 2010. Thomas served as the Flight Commander for the busiest outpatient clinic in the theater as well as being the sole OB-GYN provider and serving with the 101st Airborne Division on the Combined Joint Task Force Sexual Assault Review Board as the Sexual Assault Forensic Medical Examiner subject matter expert. The Colorado Army National Guard made history when U.S. Army Col. Laura A. Thomas was selected to be the first ARNG nurse consultant to the surgeon general in June 2024, a top position in the Army medical profession.
