Wikimania 2024?

edit

Hi Andy ... I'm a WMF engineer, been working (mostly) on commons or commons-adjacent stuff for the last good few years, going to wikimania this year and was hoping I might get the chance to chat to some community members in person - for example you. Are you planning on going? CParle (WMF) (talk) 14:41, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@CParle (WMF): Sadly not this year. Happy to chat by email or Zoom, some time. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:02, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Antwort
Ah that's a pity - I'm going on my holidays for a fortnight after wikimania (to England, though not to Birmingham), I'll give you a shout when I get back and we'll set something up CParle (WMF) (talk) 19:08, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

For categorized files on 2024-05-08

edit

According to your contributions, you added the "Category:Women wearing bikinis" category to many files on May 8th, 2024. However, I noticed the over-categorization problem when I categorized files in this category. Please look at these:

It is not necessary to add a parent category to files that have been precisely categorized. Please read COM:OVERCAT to understand how the category system works. Thank you.--125.230.86.175 12:34, 7 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Nursery schools in the United Kingdom

edit

In the UK nursery schools and Child day care centres are pretty much the same thing. These days they are both usually called nurseries - though that is really rather too ambiguous to be used as a category. Would you like to join in the discussion at [1]? File:Unveiling of the Kindertransport memorial plaque and bench (5514246578).jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
