Notice Coming here to ask why I reverted your edit? Read this page first...

Please leave me new messages at the bottom of the page; click here to start a new section at the bottom. I usually notice messages soon. I attempt to keep conversations in one location, as I find it easier to follow them that way when they are archived. If you open a new conversation here, I will respond to you here. Please watchlist this page or check back for my reply. If I have already left a message at your talk page, unless I've requested follow-up here or it is a standard template message, I am watching it. If you leave your reply here, I may respond at your talk page if it seems better for context. If you aren't sure if I'm watching your page, or I'm slow to reply, feel free to approach me here.

Welcome to my talk page! I am an administrator here on Wikipedia. That means I am here to help. It does not mean that I have any special status or something, it just means that I get to push a few extra buttons to help maintain this encyclopedia.

If you need help with something, feel free to ask. Click here to start a new topic.
If I have not made any edits in a while, (check) you may get a faster response by posting your request in a more centralized place.
If you need to get a repeat vandal blocked, you can report them to Administrator Intervention against Vandalism.
If you need a page to be protected from editing, try Requests for page protection.
If you would like to request rollback rights or account creator rights, Wikipedia:Requests for permissions is, well, that way... :)
If your problem does not fit into any of the above criteria, and your issue is urgent, you can: 1.Make a post on the Administrators' noticeboard, the Incidents noticeboard, or one of the other noticeboards.
2.Ask another administrator for help. Here is a complete List of Wikipedia Administrators.

If you want to ask for help, you can ask at the help desk for questions about Wikipedia, and at the reference desk for more general questions. You may also simply ask a question on your talk page and add {{helpme}} before your question. This will attract the attention of experienced users who will most likely be able to help you.

Syrians[edit]

again, sorry to bother you.

but I've asked for consensus and i got ignored.

so, do i keep reverting the Syrians article until i get blocked for no reason?

because i requested consensus in the talk page before i edit, and nothing happened.

i understand that you're busy, but will you please give your opinion or at least give me an admin that will do so.

because you and the other two that I've mentioned are the only ones i know in this site.

cheers. Nacirian (talk) 07:50, 1 August 2018 (UTC)

Citizens for Global Solutions[edit]

I have no conflicts regarding this organization, other than an interest in the subject. I added in "additional citations for verification" as requested. I understand I erred in etiquette in removing the tag, but I did not understand that it must undergo further review. That said, I think my extensions and revision of the article were useful and should be restored.— Preceding unsigned comment added by PJOinDC (talk • contribs) 12:22, 1 August 2018 (UTC)
@PJOinDC: I didn't suggest you had a coi. However, if you look at the talk page of the article, there is the name of an editor who does have a coi. I didn't remove your edits and I suggest you discuss them at the talk page. Please sign your name with 4 tildes, eg [[Special:Contributions/195.11.204.67|195.11.204.67]] 16:58, 6 August 2018 (UTC) Thanks. Doug Weller talk 12:36, 1 August 2018 (UTC)
Noah's ark and undue curtailing of debate[edit]

Please provide a reasonable justification for your reverts and don't rely solely on your opinion about an issue. If you feel that the cited source contains the information I rephrased please state so instead of making editors think there are implied threats for making good faith edits. You should engage in debate and politely point out issues you believe need to be addressed. Your edit there suggested that you were relying on your opinion and tried to quash dissenting rationales and could be seen as misusing administrative tools. Thinker78 (talk) 05:21, 2 August 2018 (UTC)
But that wasn't a good faith edit. You're trying to push a Creationist view here. And I didn't use my Admin tools. Scientific opinion is that the biblical Ark never existed. Doug Weller talk 08:41, 2 August 2018 (UTC) Doesn't the guideline says assume good faith? I'm not trying to push a Creationist view here. If the scientific opinion is that the biblical ark never existed then it should be properly sourced. Thinker78 (talk) 09:20, 2 August 2018 (UTC)Scientists are not required to prove that something does not exist. Experiments and studies often conclude that the existence of a thing is highly unlikely. The burden on believers is to prove that something they believe in does exist. For instance, all those reports of the discovery of the ark have to be taken with copious quantities of salt. See Snopes on Noah's Ark discovery. - Donald Albury 12:37, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

Etonmessisthebest[edit]

Hi, please note this and this. The first adds an unsourced BLP violation. The second attempts to cover it by moving it to before an existing citation. However, the citation is from years before the alleged offence. Zerotalk 09:17, 3 August 2018 (UTC)

Also topic ban violations: [1] [2]. Zerotalk 09:22, 3 August 2018 (UTC)

User:Fofo235[edit]

Hey Doug,

A new editor with a history of edit warring is currently restoring some wp:or content to this template (Template:Historical Arab states and dynasties). He's not here to build an encyclopedia. The discussion is not going anywhere, and he have some friends (Umayyadinian, MWahaiibii). Regards -Aṭlas (talk) 23:27, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
@Aṭlas: another Admin has blocked him for editwarring. Doug Weller talk 08:13, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
Friends? because i was against you edit warring i became his friend? dude you were edit warring an established fact about South Arabia being Arab its in every Wiki that talks about Arabs, and you still edit warring and reverting! Admin @Doug Weller: you should block him Aṭlas honestly not that user if you checked editing history. MWahaiibii (talk) 09:55, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
Your attempt to get him blocked for a 3RR violation failed because he didn't exceed it. Doug Weller talk 10:00, 4 August 2018 (UTC) He's helping him by restoring the wp:or version of the page. -Aṭlas (talk) 20:11, 4 August 2018 (UTC) How did he not exceed it @Doug Weller:? he kept reverting within way less than 24h.1.[4]
2.[5]
3.[6]

MWahaiibii (talk) 09:25, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
@MWahaiibii: Exactly, 3 is less than 4. Of course, if someone does 3 reverts every 24 hours to the same article they would probably get blocked, or if they did 3 reverts and than another exactly 24 hours later they might be blocked. Doug Weller talk 10:44, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
Administrators' newsletter – August 2018[edit]

News and updates for administrators from the past month (July 2018).

Guideline and policy news
After a discussion at Meta, a new user group called "interface administrators" (formerly "technical administrator") has been created. Come the end of August, interface admins will be the only users able to edit site-wide JavaScript and CSS pages like MediaWiki:Common.js and MediaWiki:Common.css, or edit other user's personal JavaScript and CSS. The intention is to improve security and privacy by reducing the number of accounts which could be used to compromise the site or another user's account through malicious code. The new user group can be assigned and revoked by bureaucrats. Discussion is ongoing to establish details for implementing the group on the English Wikipedia.
Following a request for comment, the WP:SISTER style guideline now states that in the mainspace, interwiki links to Wikinews should only be made as per the external links guideline. This generally means that within the body of an article, you should not link to Wikinews about a particular event that is only a part of the larger topic. Wikinews links in "external links" sections can be used where helpful, but not automatically if an equivalent article from a reliable news outlet could be linked in the same manner.

Technical news
The WMF Anti-Harassment Tools team is seeking input on the second set of wireframes for the Special:Block redesign that will introduce partial blocks. The new functionality will allow you to block a user from editing a specific set of pages, pages in a category, a namespace, and for specific actions such as moving pages and uploading files.

Untitled

Many (almost all ?) of the images at the The Institute of Heraldry (TIOH) Distinctive Unit Insignia, Coat of Arms, Shoulder Sleeve Insignia site I added in the See Also section are large images that are shrunk by the browser. In Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox, etc, it is easy to use the context menu (eg right click) to view the image alone, and thus see it full size. Note that the state crests, etc, for the State Army Commands appear to be based on, but different from the official state crests. -- Eli the Bearded 01:00, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

That said, I think my extensions and revision of the article were useful and should be restored.— Preceding unsigned comment added by PJOinDC (talk • contribs) 12:22, 1 August 2018 (UTC) @PJOinDC: I didn't suggest you had a coi. However, if you look at the talk page of the article, there is the name of an editor who does have a coi. I didn't remove your edits and I suggest you discuss them at the talk page. Please sign your name with 4 tildes, eg 195.11.204.67 16:58, 6 August 2018 (UTC) Thanks. Doug Weller talk 12:36, 1 August 2018 (UTC) Noah's ark and undue curtailing of debate[edit][reply]

Thinker78 (talk) 05:21, 2 August 2018 (UTC) But that wasn't a good faith edit. - Donald Albury 12:37, 2 August 2018 (UTC) Please comment on Wikipedia talk:Deletion policy[edit]

And again (also a 1RR violation). Zerotalk 11:33, 3 August 2018 (UTC) ((re|Zero0000}} I've been out. I need to decide what's appropriate, but obviously I'll stop this. Doug Weller talk 11:37, 3 August 2018 (UTC) Domosaurus Rex[edit]

Regards -Aṭlas (talk) 23:27, 3 August 2018 (UTC) @Aṭlas: another Admin has blocked him for editwarring. Doug Weller talk 08:13, 4 August 2018 (UTC) Friends? because i was against you edit warring i became his friend? dude you were edit warring an established fact about South Arabia being Arab its in every Wiki that talks about Arabs, and you still edit warring and reverting! Admin @Doug Weller: you should block him Aṭlas honestly not that user if you checked editing history. MWahaiibii (talk) 09:55, 4 August 2018 (UTC) Your attempt to get him blocked for a 3RR violation failed because he didn't exceed it. Doug Weller talk 10:00, 4 August 2018 (UTC) He's helping him by restoring the wp:or version of the page. -Aṭlas (talk) 20:11, 4 August 2018 (UTC) How did he not exceed it @Doug Weller:? he kept reverting within way less than 24h.1.[4] 2.[5] 3.[6]

MWahaiibii (talk) 09:25, 5 August 2018 (UTC) @MWahaiibii: Exactly, 3 is less than 4. Of course, if someone does 3 reverts every 24 hours to the same article they would probably get blocked, or if they did 3 reverts and than another exactly 24 hours later they might be blocked.
