Where did you have the information from, that the author is unknown? Please explain. Inform your source that the author is not unknown, just browse the collection catalogues. If the "unknown" was your personal guess because you dont know the author: Dont write "unknown" in the author field! Thats false information. Unknown ≠ "I dont know". If you dont know something thats not an information of any importance. --Martin H. (talk) 21:46, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
Procedures to follow
Welcome at commons. I ssaw you changed the Category:Madame de Lamballe. Do you realise that there are procedures to follow which may make live easier? There is a template to move a category, in a way that all involved changes are automatically made by the User:CommonsDelinker/commands. The template also serves to permit others to discuss the move before it is effectuated. You may put this template: {{Old name}} with texte within those brackets: move cat|Old name|New name|reason|date xxxx-xx-xx on the category page. --Havang(nl) (talk) 12:08, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hello, another procedure is to not upload one image over another different image but showing the same subject, as you did here: File:Anna Marie Franziska of Saxe-Lauenburg.jpg. It is commons policy to upload the full image and the cropped version on different file-names. If there is reasson for it, you may tag one version with the template {{Superseded}}. I uploaded the third version as independent file and did put links between versions. Greetings, --Havang(nl) (talk) 13:32, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
- I have run over all your uploads and did renames, corrections and some improvements. Templates like {{Move}}, {{Rename}}, {{Superseded}} etc. have to be put on the project page, not the talk page. --Havang(nl) (talk) 14:52, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
File:Anna Marie Franziska of Saxe-Lauenburg.jpg
It's being used on Wikipedia pages as a head shot. Editors on these articles have a right to expect that it won't suddenly change to a full-body picture.--Prosfilaes (talk) 17:28, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
- User:Picture Perfect Prince, as beginner you do not yet sufficiently know the rules: no edit warring, but separate uploading of cropped and full versions. You also missed the upload of a separate file, and by your last revert, you created a duplicate. I asked an admin for revert to the first image on page File:Anna Marie Franziska of Saxe-Lauenburg.jpg, deletion of all later versions on that page and protection of the page; the three images then have each their file then. Greetings, --Havang(nl) (talk) 21:14, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
Hi Picture Perfect Prince,
do not overwrite existing images from other users with your own images, as you did with File:Anna Marie Franziska of Saxe-Lauenburg.jpg. --Túrelio (talk) 21:31, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
File:Double_portraits_of_Queen_Marie_Leczinska_and_Louis_XV.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |
