Rep. Angie Craig’s Bill to Cap Insulin Costs at $35/Month Continues to Gain Momentum

September 1, 2023

Last Congress, provisions of the Affordable Insulin Now Act were signed into law as part of the Inflation Reduction Act – capping insulin copays for those on Medicare at $35 per month

The re-introduced Affordable Insulin Now Act will do the same for Americans on private health insurance plans

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Angie Craig’s legislation to cap insulin copays at $35 per month is gaining momentum in the House of Representatives.

73 Members have co-sponsored Rep. Craig’s bill since its re-introduction in March.

The Affordable Insulin Now Actpassed through the House with broad support from Democrats and 12 Republican votes during the 117th Congress.

“This is a common-sense bill, and I’m glad to have so many colleagues in the fight with us to ensure every American who needs insulin can afford it,” said Rep. Craig. “It’s clear that the pressure we’re putting on drug companies and insulin manufacturers is working, and my bill will make affordable insulin the law of the land. I would encourage my Republican colleagues to come on board in what the American people want. I’ll keep pushing to get this passed.”
