Here's how you can infuse innovation into intuitive and user-friendly interfaces.
New technologies like AR and AI can have a huge impact in user interfaces. However, they have to be used with caution, and after extensive research. While they provide new ways of interaction, it does not mean these ways are better for every scenario. Take for example the touch screen interfaces that we have in our cars. Even though they are more engaging and appealing than old knob-based car entertainment systems, it's always much easier turn the volume up/down with a 3d real knob rather than a touch screen interface, as you need to focus on the road while you drive. It's even much easier to do it with a + or - button on your steering wheel. In short, new technologies can make huge positive but also negative changes when applied to UI.

Here's how you can infuse innovation into intuitive and user-friendly interfaces.
Our brain functions in specific ways and designers should take advantage of that. An example is pattern recognition that is useful in short-term memory, useful when interacting with a UI as a first-time user. Aesthetics are an important aspect of user interface as they can enhance pattern recognition, either with typography, contrast, spacing or colors. Creating something that looks appealing but also serves the purpose of clarity and pattern recognition should be the objective. Beautiful is not always usable and functional, and vice versa. Nevertheless, like in a Venn diagram, aesthetics and functionality can have a common ground that designers need to identify and work on case by case.

Here's how you can infuse innovation into intuitive and user-friendly interfaces.
It's all about the user interface. Each person is unique and has unique needs from specific tools. Tools are designed in a "one-size fits all" UI so that they can satisfy the majority of their target personas. Recently we come across interfaces that are adaptive, and interfaces. Interfaces that can shapeshift for each user's specific profile, thus making users them feel they belong. Such interfaces are 'expensive' as they need time to develop and adjust. I believe this is where AI can come in and help as GenAI can understand intent and context, making it easier to provide a more user friendly UI to each specific individual. Adaptive intelligent interfaces is not common but I believe we will see more often in the near future.
