We recently conducted a poll asking you what they believe would most improve mental health in the workplace, and the results are in: 🕒 Flexible working hours topped the list, with a resounding 65% of respondents highlighting the importance of having control over their schedules. Flexibility plays a crucial role in reducing stress and improving work-life balance. 💡 Mental health awareness followed, with 24% noting the need for more education and conversations around mental health. This shows a growing understanding that reducing stigma and creating an open dialogue is essential for a supportive work environment. 🤝 Team-building activities came in at 12%, indicating that while teamwork and connection are valued, they may not be the primary driver for improving mental health at work. 🚫 Surprisingly, 0% chose mental health resources access—suggesting that even when resources are available, they may not be enough on their own without a culture of flexibility and openness. The takeaway? Flexibility and awareness are crucial to supporting employees’ mental health. Additionally, around 30% experience the "winter blues," characterized by low mood and energy levels in autumn and winter. This can affect daily life and productivity. Seasonal shifts contribute to rising anxiety levels, with 20-25% of Europeans reporting increased anxiety as summer turns to fall and winter. This is often due to reduced daylight and colder weather. The transition back to standard time in autumn can also disrupt mental health, with a 10% increase in depressive episodes during the first two weeks following the change. Vitamin D deficiency is a concern, especially in Northern Europe, where up to 50% of people lack sunlight during the dark months. This deficiency is linked to a 21% higher risk of depression. Understanding these seasonal impacts on mental health can help us provide better support for ourselves and others throughout the year. The results are in, and they offer some interesting insights into how professionals like to stay active. 🚶♀️➡️ 🏃♂️➡️ The clear favorite was Walking/Running, with 63% of respondents choosing this option. It’s no surprise that getting up and moving around is a popular choice—it’s a great way to break up the day, boost energy, and improve focus. Whether it’s a quick walk around the block or a brisk run, many of you find this the most effective way to stay active during work hours. 🧘 🙆♀️ Coming in second, Stretching/Yoga was the preferred choice for 32% of participants. These activities are perfect for relieving stress, improving flexibility, and staying mindful throughout the day. A short stretching or yoga pose can help reset the mind and body, especially during a busy workday. 🏢 Interestingly, only 5% of respondents favored desk exercises. While these exercises are convenient and can be done without leaving your workstation, most people prefer more dynamic forms of activity. 🚫 Additionally, not a single respondent chose to remain seated all day, indicating a strong preference for staying active, no matter the method.
