🚗 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐤𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 We're excited to share that Volkswagen Group Mobility has achieved robust growth in new contracts and an expanding contract portfolio during the first half of the current fiscal year! 🔹 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬: Up by 12.0% to just under 5.1 million contracts compared to the same period last year, with significant gains in leasing. 🔹 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐨: Increased by 2.3%, reaching nearly 26 million contracts. 🔹 𝐔𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬: New contracts rose by 10.7% to 501,000 units. The portfolio slightly increased by 1.75% from 2.6 million to 2.7 million units. 🔹 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐤𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬: After increasing the deposit volume by EUR 12 billion throughout 2023, around EUR 15 billion in new customer deposits were generated in the first half of 2024. As of June 30, 2024, the deposit volume amounted to approximately EUR 52 billion. Despite these achievements, we have seen a decrease in operating profit to EUR 1.37 billion, a decline of 21.7% compared to the first six months of 2023. The main reason for this decline is the deconsolidation of the Russian business. The total assets of the Volkswagen Group Mobility companies have grown to EUR 285.3 billion as at 30 June 2024 (+11.9 percent). 📢 There have been two changes in the Board of Management of Volkswagen Financial Services AG. 👉 Dr. Ingrun-Ulla Bartölke, who was Head of Group Accounting and External Reporting at Volkswagen AG until October 31, 2023, has taken over as Board Member for Finance and Procurement at Volkswagen Financial Services AG with effect from July 1, 2024. Bartölke had been serving as Chief Representative of Volkswagen Bank since November 2023. The previous Chief Financial Officer, Frank Fiedler, has now taken charge of the newly created area of Management Board responsibility for Risk, Tax and Legal Affairs, also with effect from July 1, 2024. 🔎 The consolidation of the financing and leasing business in Europe in the new structure of Volkswagen Financial Services has led to additional regulatory requirements from the European Central Bank being imposed on the financial services business. These requirements are addressed by the creation of the new Board-level position responsible for Risk, Tax and Legal Affairs. 💭 Arno Antlitz said: "We are delighted to have Dr. Ingrun-Ulla Bartölke, a proven and highly experienced financial expert from within our company, join our mobility services provider as the head of the finance department.” 💭 Dr. Christian Dahlheim is pleased that Ingrun-Ulla Bartölke is already very familiar with the financial and mobility group and said: "She is a great addition to our team. Volkswagen Financial Services AG and Volkswagen Bank GmbH are advancing their transformation into a comprehensive mobility services provider and have successfully completed their corporate restructuring. 👉 As part of the new structure, a majority of the German and European companies of Volkswagen Financial Services AG and Volkswagen Bank GmbH will now be consolidated in a new financial holding company supervised by the European Central Bank. 🌎 From now on, Volkswagen Financial Services Overseas AG will be responsible for managing the non-European financial services business. In the new structure, Volkswagen Leasing GmbH will be operated as a subsidiary of Volkswagen Bank GmbH, in particular to be able to utilize refinancing advantages for the growing leasing business. 👉 Both the new European financial holding company and the holding company for non-European companies will remain an integral part of the Volkswagen Group – albeit with different geographical business focuses. 📈 With the completed restructuring, Volkswagen Financial Services AG and Volkswagen Bank GmbH have laid the foundation for the successful implementation of the Volkswagen Group strategy in the field of mobility services. 👉 Volkswagen Financial Services have made a solid start to the current financial year. During the first quarter of 2024, the number of current contracts grew by 0.9 percent to 25.3 million units, while new contracts increased by 15.6 percent to just under 2.4 million units. The operating profit in the first quarter amounted to EUR 786 million, a decline of around 20 percent compared to the same period last year. 🚗 There was once again strong growth in the used vehicle marketing business. New contracts in this segment totaled 253,000 units in the first three months of the year (up 4 percent compared to the same period last year). 📊 📈 ✨ Volkswagen Financial Services have concluded the 2023 financial year with another good result. The operating profit of EUR 3.25 billion is the outcome of a normalization of business performance, without the special effects of the past two years. A strong increase in the volume of new contracts had a positive impact. The total assets of the Volkswagen Financial Services business division reached a new record high of EUR 268 billion. 📢 Dr. Christian Dahlheim, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Financial Services AG, stated: "Despite the expected decline in earnings, we are satisfied with the past financial year. In 2023, we have achieved some important milestones on our path to becoming a sustainable mobility services provider. In an environment that remains challenging, we expect earnings for the current year to be slightly higher than the previous year.” 📢 Frank Fiedler, CFO of Volkswagen Financial Services AG, added: "The financial result for 2023 is characterized by negative valuation effects from derivatives and a challenging interest rate environment. Nevertheless, it is the best result in the company's history, if one disregards the years 2021 and 2022, which were influenced by significant special effects." 👉 During the 2023 financial year, the global contract portfolio of Volkswagen Financial Services grew slightly to 22.2 million units (+ 1.4 percent), while new contract acquisitions increased by a significant 11.4 percent to 8.6 million units. The markets in North and South America, which reported strong growth figures, are particularly noteworthy. In North America, the contract portfolio grew to 2.7 million units (+ 2.4 percent), with new contracts totaling 922,000 units (+ 31.2 percent). In South America, the number of current contracts rose to 843,000 units (+ 14.8 percent) and new contracts climbed to 502,000 units (+ 62.9 percent). 👏 Also the Volkswagen Bank performed very well. The deposit volume of Volkswagen Bank grew to EUR 37.2 billion in 2023, which is an increase of 47 percent compared to the previous year (EUR 25 billion at the end of 2022). In addition, more than 630,000 new deposit accounts for private customers were opened. Dr. Volker Stadler, Chairman of the Management Board of Volkswagen Bank GmbH, pointed out: "Together with our very good contribution to earnings of EUR 740 million, this growth is a key building block for future expansion in Europe and is therefore of high strategic importance. We will not let up, especially in the deposit business, and will continue to operate in the market with very good interest rates."
