Sebastian Stan Transforms Into ‘A Different Man’ In First Trailer For A24’s Psychological Thriller

A24 on Tuesday morning unveiled the first trailer for A Different Man, its darkly comedic psychological thriller starring Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice), which is slated to hit theaters on September 20.

Also starring The Worst Person in the World‘s Renate Reinsve and Adam Pearson, the film from writer-director Aaron Schimberg centers on Edward (Stan), an aspiring actor who undergoes a radical medical procedure to drastically transform his appearance. Edward’s new dream face quickly turns into a nightmare, as he loses out on the role he was born to play and becomes obsessed with reclaiming what was lost.

In addition to A24, which financed the pic, producers of the film included Christine Vachon, Vanessa McDonnell, and Gabriel Mayers. World premiering at this year’s Sundance Film Festival before going on to screen at the Berlin International Film Festival, where Stan won the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance, the film more recently chosen to screen on the opening night of the New Directors/New Films festival.

Currently in theaters with MaXXXine — the third horror film in a trilogy from Ti West, on the heels of X and Pearl — and the acclaimed prison drama Sing Sing starring Colman Domingo — A24’s slate for the remainder of the year also includes The Eggers Brothers’ horror thriller The Front Room and psychic doc Look into My Eyes (September 6), John Crowley’s romantic drama We Live in Time (October 11) starring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, the Hugh Grant thriller Heretic (November 15) from A Quiet Place‘s Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, Kyle Mooney’s disaster comedy Y2K (December 6), and the erotic thriller Babygirl (December 20), marking Halina Reijn’s follow-up to Bodies Bodies Bodies.

A Different Man will open against Paramount’s Transformers One, Apple/Sony’s Wolfs, the documentary Happy Clothes, and indie dramas What We Find on the Road and All Shall Be Well. Check out the new trailer for the film above.
