Elizabeth Debicki On The Emotional Toll Playing Princess Di In ‘The Crown’, A Possible Return To ‘The Night Manager’ & The Christopher Nolan Film Role That Still Has Her Puzzled – The Actor’s Side

Elizabeth Debicki video interview

Joining me for this week’s edition of my Deadline video series The Actor’s Side, Elizabeth Debicki downloads her experience playing Princess Diana in The Crown, two seasons of the most emotional moments in the beloved Royal’s life, and the toll it took emotionally as well as the responsibility of playing such a well-known figure. She also talks about how Emma Corrin’s performance in the preceding seasons affected the way she would play it, as well as the reaction she has gotten from the role, for which she already has won SAG, Critics Choice and Golden Globe awards, as well as an Emmy nomination for Season 5.

We also talk about whether Debicki would like to return to her much-lauded role of Jed in 2016 limited series The Night Manager, which was greenlighted eight years later for not one but two more seasons with Tom Hiddleston back in the lead role. She also reveals what she believes happened to her character at the end of the first season.

And there’s much more including talk about the upcoming summer release of the horror film MaXXXine, in which she says she had a great time.

Debicki has had a blessed career to date including such significant turns as Jordan in Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, working with Guy Ritchie on The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and Steve McQueen for Widows and with Christopher Nolan in Tenet, a movie in which she confesses she still isn’t sure of all its meanings. There is also Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and 3 as Ayesha and Peter Rabbit as Mopsy, plus so much more. We discuss it all.
