We are on a journey to redefine play and reimagine learning. Because play is how children learn naturally.

Om os

Children are inherently curious. They explore the world through play and develop the skills to navigate it. They learn to solve problems, come up with ideas, test concepts and interact with others. Play is how children learn best – at home, in the classroom and in communities. We work together with caregivers, educators, policymakers, researchers, NGO's & other organisations to create opportunities for children to learn through play.

In 2022, 468 million children across the world lived in areas affected by armed conflict. That's 1 in 6 children growing up in the shadow of war and conflict. Today it’s #WorldHumanitarianDay and we want to put a spotlight on all the teachers in conflict-affected areas across the world. Teachers have a crucial role to play in supporting the mental health and psychosocial wellbeing of their students. Responding to the urgent need of Ukrainian children, the LEGO Foundation, The MHPSS Collaborative, and the Ukrainian Ministry of Education created a programme to better equip teachers to support their students through play-based approaches to learning and mental health and psychosocial wellbeing. In 2022 and 2023, teachers across Ukraine participated in the training: “Thriving through Play: A mental health and psychosocial support classroom approach for educators in crisis-affected settings”. The training provides educators with the knowledge, skills and motivation to support their students’ mental health and wellbeing using play-based strategies. Learn more abut the training guide and how to provide teachers in conflict settings across the world with the knowledge and skills to support students’ mental health and wellbeing in the classroom, using conflict sensitive learning approaches and learning through play.

What do you think the children in your life would do if they were the Minister of Play? 🤔 We asked some of our colleagues' children this question, and Molly’s answer is a powerful reminder of the essential role that playtime has not only in their development but also in strengthening connections with their parents. Molly highlighted the importance of making time for play together, emphasizing how crucial it is for parents to engage in playful activities with their children.

"Greetings!," or as they say in Navajo, "Yá'át'ééh!” 👋 Assimilation of Indigenous People targeted the core of communities by disrupting the family unit. These attempts have had generational impacts. Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health partners with communities to change the trajectory through their Family Spirit Home Visiting Programme. This program not only acknowledges the inherent strengths within Indigenous families but also fosters the bonds between parents and children through culturally-rooted home education. Their mission extends beyond borders as they strive to promote #FamilySpirit within Indigenous communities both within and beyond the United States. #IndigenouspeoplesDay

The art of (𝐧𝐨𝐭) teaching involves several key step 📚 ✔️ First, step back and observe. ✔️ Then, wait and allow for reflection. ✔️ Modify your approach based on the observed dynamics. ✔️ Wait again, giving space for understanding to unfold. ✔️ Ask questions or offer feedback to encourage engagement. ✔️ Finally, be patient and wait for the learning process to take its course.
