When preparing policy and proposals related to consumer safety, health and the environment, the Commission relies on independent Scientific Committees to provide it with sound scientific advice and draw its attention to new and emerging problems.
The Committee provides Opinions on health and safety risks of non-food consumer products (e.g. cosmetic products and their ingredients, toys, textiles, clothing) and services (e.g. tattooing, artificial sun tanning).
The Committee provides Opinions on questions concerning emerging or newly identified health and environmental risks and on broad, complex or multidisciplinary issues that require a comprehensive assessment of risks to consumer safety or public health and related issues.
