This week, a delegation from the French defence and security sector, including 19 French companies, visited Estonia. Yesterday, we had the opportunity to showcase our unmanned ground vehicle, THeMIS, during a demo day at the Männiku Shooting Ground. The event featured 24 Estonian companies, each presenting their innovative products and services. The demonstration of THeMIS provided an engaging experience, emphasising the importance of incorporating advanced technology to enhance combat effectiveness and operational efficiency. We are proud to contribute to the modernisation of defence strategies and look forward to strengthening our collaboration with international partners. Our shared commitment to innovation and excellence continues to drive progress in the defence sector. We are pleased to welcome LTC (Res) Andris Sprivul, who recently joined our team. Andris brings with him 28 years of experience from the Estonian Defence Forces, including 2.5 years in Ukraine during the russian full-scale aggression. Reflecting on his experience, Andris shares: "In Ukraine, I witnessed firsthand the critical role that innovative technologies, such as unmanned vehicles, play in modern warfare and the significant impact they have on the battlefield. Milrem Robotics' THeMIS, along with locally developed unmanned ground vehicles, are performing exceptionally well and making a real difference." He adds: "Being part of a team that creates these technologies is incredibly motivating. We are happy to see our unmanned ground vehicle, #TheMIS, showcased during a recent demonstration to the German Chief of Army and several NATO counterparts.   During the demonstration, it was emphasized that UGVs will be a significant part of the future battlefield. Over the past two months, we have witnessed significant growth in our interns, and we are thrilled that they have successfully completed their journey with us! In early July, ten bright minds embarked on their adventure at Milrem Robotics. During their internship, they had the opportunity to immerse themselves in life at Milrem, learn from industry experts, collaborate closely with our team, and experience the Milrem environment beyond the office. Reflecting on their time with us, the interns noted that they encountered unique tasks and overcame challenges they likely wouldn’t face elsewhere. They were highly satisfied with the overall experience, appreciating the well-organized process from application to hiring. Most importantly, they highlighted the fantastic team spirit at Milrem, the supportive mentors, and the engaging work that allowed them to learn something new every day. A heartfelt thank you to all the mentors and teams who made their time here welcoming and enriching. We are excited to announce that three of our interns will continue their journey with us starting today. For the others, we wish them the best of luck in their upcoming school year and hope to see them back at Milrem in the near future. Our next internship program will be held next year. Milrem Robotics is an active member of several European defence project consortiums. These EU projects enable us to collaborate with other European companies and contribute to unified systems that support Europe's defence capabilities while enhancing our own. For instance, the DeterMine project, funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF), aims to revolutionize the detection of hidden threats. It is developing a multisensory, multiplatform solution to identify concealed dangers such as Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and landmines. This technology is critical in safeguarding lives by identifying threats before they can cause harm. Being part of the DeterMine consortium strongly aligns with our beliefs—keeping troops out of danger and ensuring that military operations are safer and more efficient. Here’s why this project matters to us: - Enhanced Safety: Early detection of hidden threats is crucial in protecting lives and infrastructure. - Advanced Technology: Being part of this project allows us to work with cutting-edge technology and advance our own capabilities. - Collaboration: Working with other European countries and organizations strengthens our collective knowledge and skills. - Technological Challenge: DeterMine seeks to verify a modular, multisensory, and multiplatform solution for hidden threat detection. This will not only strengthen the EU’s knowledge base but also establish standardized benchmarks for evaluating landmine and IED detection systems. Today and tomorrow, we are participating in Denmark's largest defence industry exhibition, #DALO Industry Days 2024, held at the Ballerup Super Arena. We are showcasing our #THeMIS CASEVAC, which is currently supporting Ukrainian soldiers in their conflict with Russia.    The specific THeMIS features Starlink satellite communications (SATCOM) along with associated equipment, integrated in cooperation with AEC Skyline, a supplier of advanced critical data solutions.   This latest communication system allows unmanned combat support vehicles to be safely deployed to the battlefield while operators remain at a secure distance, even thousands of kilometres away.
