The point is that the program code has to execute {on the hardware, on top of the operating system, within the environment provided by the web browser, etc.} for that {hardware, operating system, web browser, etc.} to be a platform. (If somebody has a better way of expressing that constraint, go for it; what I put there is better than nothing but isn't wonderful.) undo
