In Wikipedia, it didn’t mention Netherlands is the first country in the world formally to legalise euthanasia. I think it should be added since there is a sentence in Wikipedia that voluntary euthanasia was legalized in Colombia (in 1997), the Netherlansa (in 2002). It’s not correct. Colombia is not the first country to legalize the euthanasia. It will mislead reader.

Colombia doesn't make sense
Also known as killing
"In May 1997 the Colombian Constitutional Court allowed for the voluntary euthanasia of sick patients who requested to end their lives, by passing Article 326 of the 1980 Penal Code.[78] This ruling owes its success to the efforts of a group that strongly opposed voluntary euthanasia. "

"If a person is unable to provide consent it is referred to as non-voluntary euthanasia. Killing a person who does not want to die, or who is capable of giving consent and whose consent has not been solicited, is the crime of involuntary euthanasia, and is regarded as murder."
The court allowed for euthanasia, thanks to a group that opposes euthanasia!?

:Yes, that's what the article says and the article does aim to be neutral. The intent of your comment is somewhat unclear; is there a specific change to that wording you would like to propose? -- Beland (talk) 02:06, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Please be aware when citing articles from palliative medicine that they are mostly opposed to changes in the law in respect to assisted suicide and cannot therefore be considered neutral. For instance they will commonly conflate euthanasia and voluntary euthanasia where there is a very important distinction. While it now seems a little out-of-fashion to debate/present a case in a clear fashion, this statement is very much to the point. Given this, is there not somehow it could be highlighted, given greater stress or used as a quote/within the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.151.2.22 (talk) 07:25, 3 May 2023 (UTC)

Could this article highlight the point that the debate on assisted killing (murder in legal terms) did not just appear from just anywhere, but is part of a well-funded and long-running campaign?

:Various advocacy organizations and dates of various advocacy documents are already mentioned in the article. It's unclear what you mean by "long-running"; do you have specific facts you want to see included or reliable sources that could be cited? -- Beland (talk) 02:04, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
