The Joondalup train station and bus interchange is located next to and connected to Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City. The railway line diverges off the alignment in the median of the Mitchell Freeway to serve the station. The interchange is connected to the Transperth train network linking the area to the Perth CBD - a 25-minute journey - and to Butler railway station the terminus of the line. For a few months in early 1993, Joondalup was the terminus of the railway, and is part of the Joondalup Line.
