== Life with Ken ==
Hsu, in his book {{cite book |author=Hsu, Hua |author-mask=1 |title=[[Stay True (2022 book)|Stay true : a memoir]] |location=New York |publisher=Doubleday/Knopf/PRH |date=2022 <!--|isbn=978-0385547772-->}}, talks about his life with his best friend, Ken, and how he spent a lot of time with him. Ken brought Hsu into many different hobbies, such as smoking and drinking, which he was avidly against before meeting him. Later in the book, Hsu talks about how he developed feelings for Ken as more of a life partner than a friend, but he never got around to asking him out, as he was afraid he would be discriminated against. Ken was killed in a carjacking, which crushed Hsu's life as his best friend/future partner passed away.
