According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Jacobs has recently come under scrutiny and opprobrium because of the efforts of Delaware North to compel the National Park Service to pay millions of dollars to avoid copyright naming infringement. In 2002 Delaware North, while running concession services in Yosemite Valley, copyrighted several of the names of iconic Yosemite lodgings, such as the Ahwanhee Hotel. The National Park Service was not aware of Delaware North's actions. Rather than pay Delaware North to hold on to names that had been in public use long before Delaware North held the concession contract, the National Park Service decided to change the names of several important Yosemite lodgings. Delaware North should go eat bird feces, and Jacobs should have a big heaping spoonful.
