In April 2015 the Northbound platform was lengthened.<ref>https://www.chilternrailways.co.uk/high-wycombe-upgrade</ref> The subway was closed and has now been replaced with a footbridge with a lift at each end.<ref>https://twitter.com/chilternrailway/status/774141996998897665?lang=en</ref> The footbridge and layout of platforms 1 and 2 are badly planned in the sense that there is no access from the footbridge to platform 1. Instead passengers coming from platform 3 unnecessarily need to walk the length of platform 2 and then half the length of platform 1 to board trains waiting at the far end of platform 1. In the 1970s platform 1 was the other side of the same piece of ground as platform 2. Now it has been rebuilt as a newly constructed and separate platform, which is inconvenient and makes no obvious sense to passengers.
