AB 32

Assemblyman Houston authored legislation (AB 6 - 2006) regarding the implementation of AB 32, the landmark Greenhouse Gas Legislation in California.[1]

The 15th District

The 15th Assembly District Covers parts of four counties.

In Contra Costa County, it includes the cities of the I-680 corridor: Walnut Creek, Danville, San Ramon, as well as the unincorporated areas of Alamo, Diablo and Blackhawk; it also includes the Delta region cities of Oakley, Brentwood, and the unincorporated areas of Discovery Bay, and Byron.

In Alameda County, it includes the city of Livermore and the Eastern edge of Pleasanton. This includes both Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Sandia Labs, two major research facilities.

In San Joaquin County, it includes parts of Stockton and Tracy.

In Sacramento County, the 15th District includes Elk Grove, Galt, and Isleton, and portions of Wilton and Walnut Grove.[2]

The 2008 Elections

In 2008, Houston was term-limited from seeking reelection. He briefly considered running for the U.S. House of Representatives against incumbent Democrat Jerry McNerney, but deferred to conservative former state Assemblyman Dean Andal, who ran unsuccessfully. Houston proceeded to run for Contra Costa County Supervisor against incumbent Mary Piepho, a political ally. Piepho won by 53% to 45%.
