My article "makigami" was deleted. I've written three books on the subject. I don't understand why you consider it advertising. I believe the public would want factual information on the new technique. What are your thoughts?

You can reach me at [details removed]

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

  • You would need to find reliable independent sources (see WP:V) to show that you or your technique meet our standards of notability (see WP:N and WP:BIO). "People would want to know about it" is just too subjective a standard for us to use here - everyone has a different idea of what people would want to know about. Paul Kerensa

Hi there. I'm considering recreating the article for Paul Kerensa. There are quite a lot of references for this notable British comedian and screenwriter. For instance: http://www.chortle.co.uk/comics/p/581/paul_kerensa, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1772717/. Any thoughts? Excession (talk) 11:20, 3 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Abuse Filter 58

I'm not quite sure how these things work, but why would adding an entry Banff Springs Hotel to List of castles in Canada trigger it? The user has made no other edits, current or deleted. Log at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:AbuseLog&wpSearchUser=68427capriceatyahoo Thanks. BTW the hotel looks like a castle in the Scottish Baronial but not the Conwy Castle sense (but has always been a hotel). Peridon (talk) 14:28, 3 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

The username contains "caprice", a common sockpuppet name of JtV. See users such as Caprice Kort (talk · contribs), Caprice from Mars (talk · contribs), etc. Reaper Eternal (talk) 18:17, 3 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ah, right. I was thinking it was the edit rather than the account that triggered. Thanks. Peridon (talk) 20:45, 3 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
So ... does this mean that any new user with 'caprice' in their name cannot make any edits? Soap 00:24, 6 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well, now that we all know about it (including JtV), there's not much point keeping that one in #58, is there? I'll take it out. NawlinWiki (talk) 02:29, 6 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Armenia Page

Hello, there has been recent chaos in the Armenia page, as one user dbachmann, has been constantly changing the map that had been agreed upon for months after some debate. I have the support of the main mod in charge of the page. I noticed you had changed the protection level of the Armenia page, is there any way to up the protection so he is not able to make such changes or so this edit war stops, and we can continue with what we had before?MosMusy (talk) 20:51, 3 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Robert Tickell

Hi NW. On behalf of the article creator, can I request that this article be undeleted and moved to User BillyMoses\Robert Tickell so that the editor has a chance to insert references to help establish notability? He stated on Eekster's talk page that he was in the process of doing so [1] when the article was deleted, and since this is a fairly new editor, I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt.   ArcAngel   (talk) ) 23:27, 4 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks NW. I will let the editor know about this.   ArcAngel   (talk) ) 23:55, 4 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please salt Kerry McEwen

Hello again, NawlinWiki … The article Kerry McEwen (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) is about to be CSD#A7 for the third time today … since the author obviously cannot take the hint, could you please WP:SALT this one?

Filter 58

That filter seems to be producing a lot of false positives. Granted, a decent proportion of the FPs are vandals anyway, just not the type it's targeting. Considering it disallows the edit and the bot reports anybody who triggers it to AIV, a high rate of false positives is not great. I see you're about the only person who ever modifies it, so perhaps you could do some deadheading and leave only the most harmful stuff that really needs to be disallowed on there, perhaps exporting some of the rest to another filter? Dear NawlinWiki,

I understand there has been a massive amount of deletion with articles based upon one singer that has been created possibly 20 times? If anything though, i am a new user who plans on creating an account on Wikipedia but, recently saw that this article was deleted. The article was notable and i was wondering just in case Wikipedians thought i was a banned user, if you could start the article yourself and then everyone else would build upon it. I saw some hits on Google including radio airplay.

Sincerely,

Im Soben

P.S. We can exchange emails also but, i'm afraid of privacy issues —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.175.222.156 (talk) 18:40, 6 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

NawlinWiki, thank you for deleting that page and seeing through his disguise. Do you know how to find out if 213.175.222.156 is a proxy? I doubt he's actually in the UK. I did a scan, but don't know how to interpret the results. Soap 19:04, 6 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
It's a proxy, see here for example. I've blocked it for one year. And with respect to Mr. Savy, because there was a previous AFD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sarey Savy, and because of the repeated sockpuppetry and attempts to evade filters, the only legitimate way to start this article would be to go to Wikipedia:Deletion review and state a case there as to how this person might now meet WP:MUSIC and WP:V. Speedy deletion nomination of David lee smith

A tag has been placed on David lee smith, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

redirect due grammar

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Whiteguru (talk) 11:23, 7 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Further vandalism by User talk:66.194.72.10

I note that you put a final warning at User talk:66.194.72.10, yet there have been further incidents on what is apparently a shared IP. User:HopsonRoad 03:10, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

I noticed you did some oversight (not sure of the official name of what you did) to FM's page. If you look back through the history for the past couple of weeks, various socks have published his name and location. You eliminated some of them, but a few diff's still show it. Do you think you can clean up the rest with your Wikipedia superpowers? Thanks OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 19:15, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wondering why our page was deleted

Just curious why our page for the Croydon Rangers Gridiron Club was deemed to to have given "No explanation of the subject's significance", or why we wouldn't be asked to provide one before deleting it? Longest running and most successful club in the state, one of the original founding members. Feels pretty significant to us.

Yobi.tv

The page for Yobi.tv was deleted. I believe that this may be due to an interpretation that it was being used for commercial promotion. As you can see, I am a regular contributor to Wikipedia, and (I believe) have a clean record regarding usage and non-promtional content. I have at times added content to the Yobi.tv page as well. That said, I am a regular follower of Yobi.tv and believe it merits a Wikipedia page. Would it be possible to allow me to repost the page were I to remove whatever you believe to be the segments that you believe crossed the line. If so, could you please share with me that material so that I can monitor the page in the future? Sincerely, David A. Victor

Wrestling double redirect

Hello NawlinWiki, I've found World Wrestling Entertainment roster on Special:DoubleRedirects and tried to fix it, but the page is protected. If you have time, you may fix it. Also, I think the article now can be unprotected again, because the protection is from August 25, 2008? Best regards --Cyfal (talk) 15:25, 10 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
