"Article Evaluation"

  1. Yes I think all the information on the US Census Page was relevant to the topic about the Census. It talk about what the Census is and what the main objective of the Census. It talked about the different regions and divisions that the census is used. It talked about what the use of the census data and talked about data stewardship. The only think I found distracting was the big lists and I tend to skip them if they are long.
  2. The article is written in a neutral state and is only written to gain more information on the topic. I think it is more to inform rather than apply a opinion for people to accept.
  3. Since the information was neutral and used to inform people I think the article lacked a viewpoint. It never talked about the difficulties of the Census and the errors that come with the Census. It didn't talk about the misuse of the Census like political gain or increasing benefits. If this was added to the page it would add better understanding to people that the Census can be bad and good.]
  4. All the information in the article was cited with proper references. When clicking on the references some were in pdf. files and some were links to websites. However, some of the links were not credible sources and could mean that the information input into the article could be unreliable.
  5. When visiting the talk page there was a lot other posts that did contributed to the subject. In this section it talked about a variety of topics including positive and negative. There was even some questions at the end of the talk page to ask more about the census. But at the end of page there was a external link section but no reference section of the articles and links used.
  6. The article was in different Wikiprojects but had a rating of C-class or low-importance. The article was part of WikiProject United States Publi Policy, WikiProject United States/ Government, WikiProject Economics, and WikiProjects Elections/ Referendum.
  7. The way we talked about it in class is more of a definition base and what the census does. We talked about the Pro and Cons of the Census and the kind of problems that the Census has. In this article it goes in a more political approach talking about the different regions and districts that it covers. It used legal documents to talk about the census and under certain Titles in the United States Code. The article also talked about the change of how the Census is taken which we talked about in class

Good work, but next time, try to write the evaluation as a complete paragraph without numbering your answers - Prof Hammad

In the article Demographic Threat I plan on talking about the ethnic/ racial group of Mexicans and the most recent Syrians entering the country. I will relay the information more on a neutral stand and try to stay away from a bias approach. This section of the article will talk mainly about the major increase of the immigration from these groups and talk about the problems that have arise from this. I will mention things like wars, economic crisis, and the countries standing to be able to talk about why the increase is happening. The examples I will use for the problems that will occur our things like living spaces, employment, and Health care and other kind of care that is supported by the government.

Below are the links I will use to compile to talk about the missing information in the U.S. Section:

Some in the United States have expressed concern about the "demographic threat" posed by millions of migrants from Mexico and Latin America and their descendants.[1]

My contribution to the article:

Migration Stock is the amount of people that live in a area that they weren’t originally from and Migration Flow is the amount of new people entering a new territory. This is a importance to know the difference because the main issue that is associated with immigration is the Migration flow of new people entering United States. In the distant future around 2050 United States will be a diverse country and whites will no longer be the majority. The future economy for United States will depend heavily on the future immigrants that come to the United States according to Joel Kotkin.[2] United States has a high amount of debt and it doesn’t look like it will end soon. Changing the immigration system to a more flexible system can help the U.S. future economy. So why the scare? It has always been thought that the more immigration there is the less amount of Primary sector jobs for the population that was born the United States. However according to Diana Furchtgott-Roth this statement is a fallacy.[3] It doesn’t ruin the opportunity but in turn actually raises the wages for the working class of Americans. If the stigma that immigration ruins the chances for working Americans end and United States place a more flexible immigration laws than the United States might see a brighter future with a better economy. You're on the right track with this; however, needs a few more sentences - Prof H

I gotten a recent suggestion about my contribution saying that I wrote a bias piece and that it wasn’t the right format for a Wiki page if you can get back to me and tell me if I’m writing in a neutral or a bias tone. - Austin Briscoe
