Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

The official website and every other source I can find does not use a hyphen. Do you have a source for this? C F A 💬 17:19, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here are some news references 1, 2 and also you can clearly see the logo on this website where Hyphen is present 3. 49.32.247.21 (talk) 04:05, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Because news sources and the official website use both spellings, please start a RM discusion. C F A 💬 16:34, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Tsc9i8 Sources use both names so this is not necessarily uncontroversial. There is also a semi-notable "Canada Permanent Building" in Edmonton which complicates things. C F A 💬 18:51, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Given this was the company's head office, I would give it the title, and disambiguate any future "Canada Permanent Building" pages for offices in other cities. In any case, Canada Permanent Trust was a subsidiary of the larger parent company, the Canada Permanent Mortgage Corporation. This building was the head office of both companies, hence why it is called "Canada Permanent" without the added "Trust" or "Mortgage." Tsc9i8 (talk) 12:36, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are clearly much more knowledgeable about the topic than I am so I won't dispute this, but because sources use both names (ex: [1][2], [3][4]), I suggest starting a requested move discussion on the talk page in case it is contested. C F A 💬 16:39, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You need to cite sources. The references at the article all use "Canada Permanent Trust Building". 162 etc. (talk) 22:20, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Article titles are based on common name, not full name. This appears to be his common name, including in the article's sources. SilverLocust 💬 03:00, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
