editSemi-learned borrowing from Sanskrit शोभते (śóbhate). First attested as Old Marathi 𑘫𑘻𑘥𑘜𑘹 (śobhaṇe). Compare Gujarati શોભવું (śobhvũ), Hindi शोभना (śobhnā), Sindhi سوڀَڻُ / सोभणु, Punjabi ਸੋਭਣਾ (sobhṇā) / سوبھݨا (sobhṇā).
