Windows screenshots

[edit]

Is there any consensus and/or accepted guidelines telling that screenshots must display empty desktops with no applications running? --tyomitch 19:49, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Maybe with a Windows Explorer window and the start menu open. Not too crowded, but illustrates the point. Just a suggestion."
Done, see if the new one is better. (Also, would you consider archiving your old discussions? This talk page is unhandily huge.) --tyomitch 18:44, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Reverted again, this time by Ta bu shi da yu. What am I to do now? Point him to this talk page? --tyomitch 09:16, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I feel that it's too crowded. The start menu doesn't reflect Windows 2000 - why not show it running the mmc, a command prompt, the run menu and a few open windows? It doesn't need the menu. - Ta bu shi da yu 11:48, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

[edit]

Seeing you after a long time. Taking a break it seems? :) --soum talk 07:20, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for being late in replying; my internet connection just froze.
Yeah, I am not as active these days. Submission date for my research paper is drawing near. Anyways, is the conflict with Kuban kuzak (talk · contribs) resolved now? --soum talk 07:36, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. :) Hopefully he will learn and stay quite. As for image restoration, anyone with admin abilities can do it, though images deleted before June 2006 are not restorable. Btw, you read Harry Potter? --soum talk 07:44, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I cant say for others but I didnt because I didnt see his request. By the time I came to the list, I thought the rest is probably ranting and skipped it. :P
Seems like Alex was the second one to even spot the request, after Ëzhiki (who told that the recovery is impossible). Thanks again to both of you :-) --tyomitch 15:47, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am also waiting for the 7th book. Just today I learned the local bookstore will be getting the boxes on 20th morning. I will try to bribe him to give me a copy a day early. :P Seen fifth movie? --soum talk 08:06, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Then I am definitely gonna spoil the 7th book for you :D Anyways, I am logging out now. Catch you l8r. Cya. --soum talk 08:40, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Windows Vista Search Folder

[edit]

Hey, do you think a screenshot of a search folder is needed in the article to visually demonstrate the feature? I, for one, dont think its necessary for it does not visually look any different than real ones. But some have pointed out without a screenshot it does not give an exact idea how the UI is surfaced. Dont know what to do. :( --soum talk 06:12, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Warnings on userpages

[edit]

Hi. Please do not edit-war to remove warnings on user talkpages. This practice has been found to breed unnecessary controversy and ill-will, particularly where, as with the sockpuppetry allegations against Ghirlandajo, the warning has been investigated and found to be unfounded. Happy editing! Regards, Newyorkbrad 11:27, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for noticing the issue so fast. By the way, he also removed the warning I left on his talk page, that's why I reverted him. Please take a look at the entry at WP:ANI and comment there. Thanks. — Alex(U|C|E) 11:29, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Responded on my talk. Perhaps I wasn't clear, please do not edit-war to restore warnings that have been removed by the affected user himself or herself. In such case, it is obvious that the user has already seen the warning. Restoration of a removed warning was particularly unlikely to assist with maintaining the peace in this particular instance where the main warning you restored was a sockpuppetry allegation that was readily dismissed at WP:SSP. There is no reason to insist of maintaining allegations such as this in another editor's userspace against his or her will. Regards, Newyorkbrad 12:25, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photos

[edit]

Ideally, all of them, have a look at [1] for good examples on angles. If you can accumulate a similar collection for every station as the website owner has for Piter (i.e. central and platform hall views, closeups of decorations, vestibule views (both inside and out)) then that will be enough for me to finish the article. Also see if you can get some construction photos of the newer stations, and a window shot when passing Lvovskaya Brama and Telichka. Advise: visit on sunday, to avoid a lot of crowd obsucuring the visions. It's a whole days work, but focus on the KKL first, as the articles there are in stub condition, as there are no images at all.

PS. Tomorrow I am off to Odessa to shoo off Nato occupiers, so if you want to meet up somehow drop me an e-mail. --Kuban Cossack 12:38, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's a copy of the recent content at User:Digwuren/Workshop/Estophobia. Alas, without history. My attempts to improve it have been stalled until autumn; I just don't have enough access to offline literature right now -- and, for understandable reasons, most of 1990s' Estonian scientific literature is rather slowly becoming available on Internet. Of course, I welcome any your attempts: you can do them in either my workshop or make a copy. Should you need anything translated from Estonian, please let me know. Block reasoning

[edit]

Digwuren's block was long overdue. As for Petri's block, I still question the block reasoning. It was on the basis of WP:OR and NPOV. Well, those are deletion reasons, not block reasons. The block rationale would have to have been disruption and/or 3RR, but the former is not determined by a single person, and the latter doesn't seem to be the case with that user. I don't mean to be legalistic, but we do not *block* for writing with a point of view or writing original research. We *block* for disruption, and having a contrary opinion is not disruption. --Ghirla-трёп- 19:58, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So you are still questioning my blocking of someone who accuses others of "having Nazi agendas"! Ok. provocative comments and random accusations at AfD was my rationale. Can you prove me wrong?
RJ CG was blocked for "Tedious" editing using OR, SYNTH. I am wondering why aren't you talking about the blatant OR he was inserting while violating WP:SYN. Was it the first time? Absolutely not indeed. Can you prove me wrong?
Digwuren was blocked because of tendentious editing and edit warring at Anti-Estonian sentiment. Can you prove me wrong?
After all, have you seen any single admin questioning my actions? -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 20:15, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fayssal, I don't question the block, I question its reasoning and duration. Not sure who RG CG is, presumably some new account from Estonia. As for Digwuren's block, I don't think it will have the intended effect as long as his numerous meatpuppets are still active with such "helpful" comments as this one. --Ghirla-трёп- 20:32, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ghirlandajo, please stop trolling. As for Digwuren's block, you (FayssalF) said you blocked him for tendentious editing and edit warring. I only spotted two reverts, and the stub had only one sentence. I don't see how WP:NPOV could have been violated with that sentence. Just my two cents. — Alex(U|C|E) 20:36, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your comment Alex. Well, we block for edit warring. The rule does not convey an entitlement to revert three times each day, nor does it endorse reverting as an editing technique; rather, the rule is an "electric fence". Editors may still be blocked even if they have not made more than three reverts in any given 24 hour period, if their behavior is clearly disruptive. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 20:44, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All right. I'm not an administrator, I guess I'm not the one to decide. As for Ghirlandajo, just ignore him. He's been in trouble before, see this for more information. Just don't let him provoke you to get you in trouble. — Alex(U|C|E) 20:48, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alex, please leave him in peace. Digwuren was warned about WP:HARASS. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 20:57, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Leave who in peace? Digwuren or Ghirlandajo? I left Digwuren in peace, the last comment on that issue was on WP:ANI, where I said that the unblock review template was enough to resolve things (I implied that WP:ANI was overkill). — Alex(U|C|E) 21:00, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Talking about your comment about Ghirla. Please keep discussions at the ANI. Thank you. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 21:03, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alex, you are not an editor in good standing to offer any meaningful comment on the issue. You behave just like Bonaparte, Molobo, Digwuren, and countless other users had behaved. You may check where this attitude has led all of them. --Ghirla-трёп- 21:09, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What makes you think I'm not qualified? — Alex(U|C|E) 21:32, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Alex, cool down. Talking to certain editors is pointless. Talking about them is little better. Concentrate on content creation, and don't imitate their flaming style - at least you can say then that you scored a moral victory :> I have found that almost always one can triumph by creating well written and well sourced articles. In the end, the tactics of some editors - trying to annoy their content opponents so that they will leave the project or get themselves banned - will fail, because they will be unable to remove well-referenced facts they dislike. If you really can't work because others are being disruptive, follow WP:DR or join one that is in progress if you feel you can contribute something. But always consider if wasting time on such avenues isn't in fact what they want. Bottom line: go ahead, write a new article, try WP:DYKing it. I guarantee you will feel much better.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  23:46, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of airlines in Ukraine, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that List of airlines in Ukraine satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of airlines in Ukraine and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). Hello,

I have set up a request to move the page Kiev to Kyiv.

I have outlined four key reasons for doing so in the discussion section of the page.

Looking through the archives, I saw that you had contributed to this page earlier. I would like to hear what you have to say on this topic.

Thank you

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Windows Sidebar logo.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Windows Sidebar logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:23, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Windows Live Mail logo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Windows Live Mail logo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. JackLau 11:52, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good evening (GMT time); you are being given this message, as notification of a Motion to Close Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Podilsko-Voskresenska Line, to which you are listed as a party. The full statement on this motion can be found on this section of the Mediation Location; if you do not agree with the closure, please post your objection in that section, where a response will be placed accordingly.

Otherwise, thank you for working towards the compromise, which has now been reached and implemented into the article. This has resulted in a successful Mediation, and an end to the dispute in question. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I used the date format not because I liked it but because I could not get the column width to work. It's a trade off between bade consistency and layout. If you want please fix the column width issue before reverting the date format. UkraineToday 03:04, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CITATION unjustified removal of information

[edit]

Please do not remove information that has a citation and is verifiable as fact. Just because you can not find reference to a particular topic on a given corporate page does not nullify the information published elsewhere. There are many examples where information, research and opinon-polls are not available on the surveyor's corporate site. This does not mean that the survey or results of research did not take place. UkraineToday 20:11, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The surveys mentioned in Wikipedia articles should be as transparent as possible, not conducted by a company which doesn't have much credibility. — Alex(U|C|E) 20:30, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not continue to vandalise information published on Wikipedia. You are not teh poll police and if you took time to inform yourself as opposed to trying to prevent information being published you would have noticed that similar information has been published and reported by more then one polling agency. I not with interest that you previously had removed this information under teh false pretense that there was no citation, then you troed to claim thnat the information was not verifiable when it clearly is. Now you are trying to claim that the agencies are all involved in some sort of consiracy and that also by implication refers to teh numerous news agencies that have published reports based on the various polls that have been published. Please consider this as a warning. UkraineToday

When it is 2009, you can start adding polls to the election article. However, at this point it is way too early to be adding political polls. I don't see polls about the referendum being added (which is going to occur way sooner than the presidential elections), do you? Quit trying to stir up controversies. — Alex(U|C|E) 23:17, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry the only person trying to stir up a controversy are those that are seeking to remove relevant information related to the topic under consideration. The results of a public opinion poll are most certainly within the realm of public debate and subject to the provision of fair use. I suggest you stop misinterpreting the using the argument of copyright or made up notion of time scale to prevent publication of information that is clearly related to the content of teh article just because you do not support what is being presented. If you consider that something is wrong or not to you liking I suggest that you first outline your case and seek agreement from the author if you still are dissatisfied then I you could try and seek mediation from someone who is impartial and qualified to mediate on the issue of concern. If all else fails you undertake an appeals process. UkraineToday 15:07, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. It's the reason I'm getting a bit sick of Wikipedia also. Perhaps I should never have worked at the article and gotten it to FA status from this to this. As you can see, the most frustrating thing about Wikipedia is that those who slave away at getting article quality up don't get any recognition, and very little respect from people who only want to do things like modify screenshots! For goodness sake, do you realise that I spent almost 100 hours on that article? And then Tyomitch comes along and accuses me of owning the article. Nice. Perhaps I also have good reasonos to be totally sick of Wikipedia, given the amount of work I've put into it. - Ta bu shi da yu 13:51, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:British Airways logo.png

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:British Airways logo.png. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:00, 13 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Fair use disputed for Image:Windows Vista Search.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Windows Vista Search.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:16, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alex, hope everything is fine. :) Sorry to bother you again, but can you please upload a screenshot of Windows Vista which shows a mix of real and virtual folders (preferably no files in view)? Your screenshots tend to be much better looking than mine (How do you manage to capture the shadows and transparencies without what is behind? :o). Sorry for my lack of responsiveness, I'm a bit busy... I probably won't get around to making the screenshot until tomorrow, so I'll open up the secret. :-) Just use Kenny Kerr's Window Clippings and fool around with the settings to make the window backgrounds transparent. Good luck (if you get around to it before me, of course). — Alex Khristov 02:40, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting the secret out :P, I will play around with it now. But I think I will let you do the screenshot that will go live here. :D --soum talk 16:02, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Btw, do you think this warrants starting an article under a preliminary name like Microsoft MDM and mentioning both the versions. Or should we wait till the official name of the series of application (and not just codenames of individual revisions) is announced? --soum talk 16:22, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Can you take a "draft" screenshot so that I know what you want the screenshot to look like? By the way, the blog link that you left on my talk page died... So I don't know about that article. — Alex Khristov 02:37, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Its OK, I can handle the screenshot. In fact, I am thinking of an alternate presentation in the article. Unfortunately, the sshot I visualized does not fit into the new format. I have to rethink the screenshot as well. May be this will be a chance to show off my window clippings skill. :p Sorry for bothering, though. About the blog link, it detailed Microsoft's plans for a Master Data Management offering. But it was not clear whether it will ship as a different product (or any inkling of the final name) or will the functionality be bundled into SharePoint. But it mentioned codenames of first two iterations (which the author collectively referred to as Microsoft MDM). So, I was at a loss whether to start the article under a temporary name of Microsoft MDM or the codenames. --soum talk 05:32, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:53, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:BYuT.png.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:27, 16 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Fair use rationale for Image:WMP11_logo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:WMP11_logo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Thank you. Rettetast 18:18, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be okay for me legal wise to use the Windows Mail icon in low resolution format (64 pixel) like that on the Wiki page? I would not save the image to my FTP but use the image URL ( http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/a8/Windows_Mail_logo.png/64px-Windows_Mail_logo.png ) that is already uploaded to WikiMedia. Orphaned non-free media (Image:SkyTeam banner.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SkyTeam banner.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Good evening. You are listed as a party in the above-linked Request for Mediation. Following recent discussion, the active contributors and I have now finalised Proposal 1 as a compromise in this case.

As we are moving to implement this motion to the articles involved in this case, your input in this matter is required. Please read the contents of Proposal 1, and then post your opinion (as "Support" or "Oppose") at the Motion to Implement Proposal 1, in accordance with the instructions listed at the top of that Motion.

If you require any assistance, or have any queries in this matter, details for contacting me both publicly and privately are available here. Please do contribute to this Motion as soon as possible, as your input is very much appreciated and important. You may also wish to read through the build-up discussion to this Proposal, located here.

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:WikiProject Ukraine archives, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:WikiProject Ukraine archives has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:WikiProject Ukraine archives, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Proposed deletion of Tjeerd Hoek

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Tjeerd Hoek, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

un-referenced and insufficient assertion of notability (also orphan)

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 02:31, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New route map for Podilsko-Vyhurivska Line‎

[edit]

I saw you changed the style of the route map to WP:RDT. I'm not against it. Quite the contrary, I was one of the contributor to the RDT project. The only problem with {{Podilsko-Vyhurivska Line}} is that you use the CPIC icons   to represent the interchanges, this set of icon is supposed to indicate the interchange which provides cross-platform interchange layout, or to a lesser extent, all platforms of different lines are on the same level. Which is clearly not the case for all the interchanges in Kiev Metro. So I would suggest you apply the HUB set    like Russian and Ukrainian versions do. You can retain the current color (the u-set icons  ) because the alternative color icons do have some accessibility issue. Or another option for you is to display the   (TRAM) beside   (uINT) like {{Beijing Subway/4‎}} does. I will leave the judgment to you. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 10:00, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

See user:Sameboat/sandbox#3. I personally don't recommand the presentation as shown on the right. Unless more details of that other line are drawn within the same map, the extra icons doesn't offer much useful information for the reader but confuse them. (P.S. I'm not satisfy with the current Hong Kong Metro RDTs, they're unnecessarily complicated for first time readers.) -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 17:06, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Kyiv ESC 2005.svg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Kyiv ESC 2005.svg.

You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 04:36, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Leontovych

[edit]

Hey, I've significantly expanded the article on Mykola Leontovych over the past few months. Thought (maybe more of "hoped") you might be interested in expanding, correcting it, or editing in general to help bring it to good, or even featured status. :-)

Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper

[edit]

Greetings, I was wondering if I might interest you in working on the page of Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper. She's a Ukrainian-American who was an astronaut with NASA and flew on two Space Shuttle missions. I found a bunch of links that can be used as citations and dropped them on the Talk Page. I added a few things to the article, but there is plenty of potential for expansion. The reason I am asking for help, is because I actually know Captain Heide and I don't feel entirely comfortable working on her page (she and I met at a Plast Camp in 1979). Thank you. File source problem with File:Windows Mail logo.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Windows Mail logo.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Windows SideShow logo.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ramaksoud2000 (talk) 21:36, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Windows Calendar logo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Windows Calendar logo.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Windows Mail logo.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Windows Mail logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 11:24, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity

[edit]

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB.
