De Villiers Graaff High School is an academic state secondary school in Villiersdorp, a small town approximately 150 km from Cape Town, South Africa founded in 1872. Pictured is David Graaff presenting a £100,000 donation to the De Villiers Graaff High School in 1907.
2013 Deep Down & Dirty C-class
Deep Down & Dirty is the fourth studio album by the British electronic band Stereo MCs (pictured), released on May 28 2001, nine years after the successful Connected. The album maintains a similar style to its predecessor with deep-groove, beatbox funk, nods to soul-jazz and gospel though music critics at the time noted its grittier, edgier approach.
2013 BEAST c-class
Beast (often stylised as BEAST) is a garage rock supergroup from Cape Town. Formed in 2012, the band consists of Inge Beckmann (vocals) of Lark, Louis Nel (bass guitar) and Rian Zietsman (bass guitar) of Taxi Violence, and Werner von Waltsleben (drums) of Kobus!. BEAST's sound has been self-described as "psychological rock and roll" and a "four-nippled aberration".
2016 Foreshore Freeway Bridge C-class The Foreshore Freeway Bridge, also known as Cape Town's Unfinished Bridge, is an incomplete section of what was intended to be the Eastern Boulevard Highway in the city bowl of Cape Town, South Africa however, due to budget constraints in city expenditure at the time, the project never came to completion and has stood in its unfinished state since construction officially ended in 1977.
2016 Van Breda murders c-class The Van Breda murders was the notorious and brutal killing of three family members and the seriously injuring of another on January 27, 2015, at an exclusive golf estate (pictured) in Stellenbosch, South Africa. After a year and a half of investigations by the South African police youngest son Henri van Breda was convicted for the murders.
2017 Stoker c-class Stoker or stylised as ⚡toker is a hard rock band from Cape Town consisting of 2 sets of brothers from two rural country towns in the Western Cape. The current line up was established in 2013 when Redge (lead guitar) and Morgan O'Kennedy (drums) joined Chris (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Jurgen Bornman (bass). Pictured is Dave Murray, a big influence on the band.
2017 Dagga Couple c-class The Dagga Couple is a pro-cannabis lobbyist organisation from South Africa founded by Myrtle Clarke and Julian Stobbs after the two were arrested for the possession and dealing in the substance in 2010. Rather than plead guilty, the couple decided instead to sue 7 sectors of government that maintained and enforced the policy of cannabis prohibition in the country resulting in what has been described locally as the Trial of the Plant in 2017.
2017 Oblation c-class Oblation is the third studio album by Florida sludge metal band Floor released on April 25, 2014 on the Season of Mist label. The first original material since previous album, Dove (2004), Oblation followed the bands reunion in 2013 after disbanding in 2003.
2017 Wizard Bloody Wizard c-class Wizard Bloody Wizard is the ninth studio album by English doom metal band Electric Wizard (pictured) released on November, 17 2017. Recording took place from April, 2016 to February, 2017 at the Satyr IX Recording Studios.
2017 Death Song start-class Death Song is the fifth studio album by American psychedelic rock band The Black Angels released on April 21, 2017, 4 years after their last album Indigo Meadow. Recording took place during September 2016 at Arlyn, Avast! and Electrokitty Recording Studios. Drummer Stephanie Bailey pictured.
2018 All Nerve c-class All Nerve is the fifth full-length studio album by American alternative rock band The Breeders set to be released in March 2018, 10 years after their previous album Mountain Battles in 2008. A Stereogum article in June 2016 reported that the band was recording new material at their Ohio studio and in October 2017 they released the first single from the album titled Wait in the Car. The album also marks the band's first in 25 years with their Last Splash lineup (pictured).
2018 Floor start-class Floor is the debut self-titled studio album by Florida sludge metal band Floor (pictured) released in 2002 on the No Idea Records label. After recording EP's and demo's over an approximate ten year period in an attempt to capture the doom-pop sound they have become known for, the bands use of providing the biggest possible sound with minimal guitar work finally paid off.
2018 Dove start-class Dove is the second studio album by American sludge metal band Floor released in 2004 on the No Idea Records label. The songs on the album were recorded in 1994, before the release of their debut album, Floor in 2002 and were only released ten years later after the positive response the band received to their debut album.
2019 For the Many start-class For the Many is the 20th studio album by English reggae band UB40 (pictured). It was released on 15 March 2019 on the Shoestring record label. The album cover was designed by longtime saxophonist Brian Travers and depicts a silhouette of tower blocks following the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire.
2019 Gold & Grey start-class Gold & Grey is the fifth studio album by Philadelphia-based heavy metal band Baroness, due to be released on 14 June 2019 on the band's own label, Abraxan Hymns. As with previous releases by the band, the album's artwork was designed by front-man and lead singer John Dyer Baizley (pictured). The album will be the band's first to feature new guitarist Gina Gleason.
2019 On the Lam start-class On the Lam is the third studio album by American sludge metal band Cavity (guitarist Jason Landrian pictured) released on 23 October, 2001 on the Hydrahead Records label. The album was well received by music critics with some calling it their most accessible album to date and Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic went so far as to call the album "remarkable".
2019 Zeppelin Over China c-class Zeppelin over China is the 26th album by American indie rock group Guided by Voices (pictured). It was released on February 1, 2019 on the Rockathon Records label and was recorded at Magic Door in New Jersey, Serious Business Records in New York and Stillwater Lodge in Dayton Ohio.
2019 Admission start-c Amission is the fifth studio album by the American metal band Torche released on July 12, 2019 through Relapse Records. This is the bands first material since their previous album Restarter, released in 2015. The album was produced, engineered and mixed by longtime guitarist Jonathan Nuñez..
