Usage

[edit]

The {{Overpopulated category}} template adds categories to Category:Overpopulated categories (50). Categories that contain too many pages, and require attention to reduce their size, may be marked with this template. If suitable subcategories do not exist, they should be created; pages should then be re-categorized, as appropriate.

If a category requires constant maintenance, rather than a one-time recategorization, use {{Category diffuse}} instead. Some categories intentionally contain many pages, such as categories populated by certain templates; these categories do not need to be tagged.

In addition to using this template, also consider adding the {{category tree}} template to make all sub-categories visible.
