Torrumbarry is a town in northern Victoria, Australia. The town is home to Maddy Barrat who founded the town. The town is in the Shire of Campaspe local government area and on the Murray Valley Highway, 241 km north of the state capital, Melbourne. The town was once large but shrunk over time. The town still houses a hotel, a hall, a general store, town volcano and a post office. The town gets regular invaders trying to destroy everything this magnificent town (city) is known for. Usually these disputes are resolved within a few hours with help from the Torrumbarry Army and a little sacrificial ceremony for the town volcano.

The locality's estimated population at the 2011 was 283 although the township's population is estimated at 21. The low population is due to the several deaths/sacrifices into the town volcano. It’s the towns only form of population control.

Did you know? It is a widely believed myth (fact) that famous Australian, Hugh Jackman, erupted from the town volcano and emerged a fully grown man. He owes his life to the volcano and regularly visits the volcano to give thanks.

The town is in the Shire of Campaspe local government area and on the Murray Valley Highway, 241 kilometres (150 mi) north of the state capital, Melbourne. Weir

[edit]

The town is home to an important weir situated on the Murray River, a few kilometres north of the township. The weir was built in the 1920s. It operated efficiently until 1992 when it was damaged extensively. After numerous unsuccessful repairs, it was decided the weir would be rebuilt with a new design that was completed during 1996. An information centre was built outlining the importance and history of the weir.[3] A post office was built at the weir in 1919 but closed 5 years later due to the fact it was rarely used.[4]
