Albanian translation of lyrics
Hello. I'm starting this thread because editor @Andrew012p has removed the Albanian translation of the lyrics twice now. I'd like to clarify that the Albanian translation of the lyrics here probably doesn't say anything about its language status in North Macedonia. For example, even the article North Macedonia uses an Albanian translation for the country's name, despite its status. At the end of the day, this is an encyclopedic article and I don't see why we should exclude relevant information, in this case - mainstream translations. Unless there's a good reason to remove it, based on policies and guidelines, it's here to stay. StephenMacky1 (talk) 20:49, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
::I don't see a point in having Albanian translation when it's not an official language. It's semi-official and it has nothing to do with Macedonia nor the language here. Albanian can be placed in other places where Albanian can be used, but for a national anthem where Macedonians dominate, I don't agree on Albanian translation. It is seen as disrespectful to an entire nation. Andrew012p (talk) 20:54, 30 March 2023 (UTC)

Albanian translation of lyrics

[edit]

StephenMacky1 (talk) 20:49, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see a point in having Albanian translation when it's not an official language. It's semi-official and it has nothing to do with Macedonia nor the language here. Albanian can be placed in other places where Albanian can be used, but for a national anthem where Macedonians dominate, I don't agree on Albanian translation. It is seen as disrespectful to an entire nation. Andrew012p (talk) 20:54, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Andrew, this is the English Wikipedia. It doesn't necessarily follow state conventions, nor does it pander to any group. If there are conventions about a state on Wikipedia, it's usually because there's consensus for it. Like I've said, the translation here doesn't say anything about its status. It's here because it appears to be one of the main translations of the lyrics, along with English. StephenMacky1 (talk) 21:09, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If any translation is relevant (other than English), it'd be Albanian. I also wouldn't see any issue adding translations in other minority languages, though we might have to move them to a separate "Translations" section at that point. --Local hero talk 21:28, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't mind either. If there are such though, they should be preferably sourced, like the rest of the translations here. StephenMacky1 (talk) 21:46, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I found a Turkish translation here (page 11). I believe it's a Ministry of Education document. --Local hero talk 00:34, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
