The '''Commando Delta''' organizations were assassination teams under the control of the [[Organisation armée secrète|Organisation armée secrète (OAS)]] in [[Algeria]] during the early 1960s. The teams "interdicted" European neighborhoods by assassinating Muslims who entered. The Commandos Delta were organized by [[Roger Degueldre]] in 1961. The Commandos Delta were also responsible for the assassination of persons considered "soft" or traitors to the cause of [[French Algeria]]. However, a certain number of killings were alleged to have been done by the [[Service de Documentation Extérieure et de Contre-Espionnage]] (SDECE) security forces to discredit the OAS, carried out by the [[Service d'Action Civique]] or the [[Red Hand (Algeria)|Red Hand]]. As a result, it is not possible to clearly define which actions were ascribable to the Commandos Delta in the chaotic situation of the time.

Les '''Commandos Delta''' étaient des groupes chargés des exécutions pour l'[[Organisation armée secrète]] (OAS). Ils « interdisaient » les quartiers européens aux musulmans en les assassinant. Ils furent fondés par le sous-lieutenant déserteur [[Roger Degueldre]] en 1961, qui les dirigea. Selon Jacques Delarue le nom Delta (le "D" en grec) fut choisit à cause de la première lettre du nom de Degueldre.

Ils furent également responsables de l'assassinat de plusieurs appelés du contingent français ainsi que des personnes considérées comme « molles » ou « traîtres » à la cause de l'[[Algérie française]]. Néanmoins, un certain nombre de ces meurtres ont pu être effectués par des [[barbouze]]s pour discréditer l'OAS : on parlait alors d'une organisation secrète autre que le [[Service d'action civique|SAC]] : [[La Main rouge (groupe terroriste)|la Main rouge]]. Il était, de fait, difficile de définir quelles actions était imputable ou non aux ''deltas'', étant donné que n'importe qui pouvait, vu la situation, faire tout et n'importe quoi.

L'OAS ayant par ailleurs « interdit » aux [[Pieds-Noirs]] de fuir, elle a largement contribué à élargir le fossé entre les communautés européenne et musulmane en Algérie, et donc indirectement à la fuite de la majorité du million de pieds-noirs vers la métropole française à la fin de la guerre. Organisation armée secrète (OAS) flag

The Commando Delta organizations were assassination teams under the control of the Organisation armée secrète (OAS) in Algeria during the early 1960s. The teams "interdicted" European neighborhoods by assassinating Muslims who entered. The Commandos Delta were organized by Roger Degueldre in 1961. The "Delta" signified Degueldre, a lieutenant who deserted from the French Foreign Legion in 1961.[1]
