Farhan Ahmed (born 22 February 2008) is an English cricketer who plays for Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club and the England national under-19 cricket team. He is a right handed batsman and right arm off break bowler.[1]

Career

An off-spinner,[2] Ahmed played club cricket alongside his brothers Raheem and Rehan for Cavaliers and Carrington CC. All bowlers, on one occasion they took all ten wickets in an innings between them.[3][4] He made his county second-team debut for Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club against Lancashire in May 2022, three months after turning 14 years-old.[5] He became established in Notts second XI during the 2023 season.[6] In June 2024, he signed a three-and-a-half year professional contract with Notts.[7][8][9][10]

International career

He made his debut for the England U19 as a 15 year-old in the summer of 2023.[11] He was subsequently selected for the 2024 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.[12][13][14][15][16] He retained his place in the England U19 team for their summer 2024 series against Sri Lanka U19.[17][18]

Personal life

His father Naeem Ahmed, a former cricketer, was born in Mirpur, where he played as a fast-bowling all-rounder, before moving to England with his wife Musrat Hussain, in 2001.[19][20] He is the younger brother of England international cricketer Rehan Ahmed.[21]
