New parameter

Hello @Funandtrvl! So I found an inactive taskforce page Wikipedia:WikiProject Jewish-Americans which was, by the looks of it, abandoned mid-creation due to the creator suddenly abandoning Wikipedia. Since I have an interest in Jewish-American history and culture, I decided the page can be tidied up and added to the appropriate articles.

One issue the creator had was with parameters. I tried to add them too but I'm afraid I can't figure it out at all. If you can be so kind to help put in the |Jewish-Americans=yes and |Jewish-Americans-importance= to {{WikiProject United States}} and we can, hopefully, get this up and running. I see no difference between the present template and its sandbox. Therefore,  Not done: please make your requested changes to the template's sandbox first; see WP:TESTCASES. To editor QuietHere: I don't understand, this template is used on almost 700,000 pages, so we should make very sure before editing. If you're not sure why or how it's broken, then how do you know that it's broken at all? You must have seen some symptom of a problem, so please describe it and show an example or two. @Paine Ellsworth well, the current template page says "The time allocated for running scripts has expired" twice in bolded red text, while it looked perfectly normal in the version before your most recent edit, and when I tried to add it to Talk:Never Leave earlier, Rater said the banner didn't exist. Perhaps something else went wrong, but that seems like the most obvious cause to me. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 21:35, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

As the devs might say, the function is not broken, it is non-performant. (T278206) In other words this is a performance problem that the devs have been working on time and again for a few years now. Apparently considered low priority compared with other challenges, you can expect to see the allocation error message again. I caught it when I synchronized the project template's sandbox with the live template to run some tests. As has been mentioned in previous discussions, the page just had to be purged and it loaded with no error message. I see you added the project template to Talk:Never Leave without hassle. I hope you're as glad as I am that a revert of this edit is not required. WHEW I say as I wipe the sweat from my brow. Best to you, and thank you for being attentive to this issue! For what it's worth, it wasn't entirely without hassle, as Rater still isn't acknowledging the template's existence. I will bring up that concern on Rater's talk page and hopefully that can be resolved as well. Yup, resetting the rater cache brought the WP US template back into the selection list, although recently, it was missing and even clearing the cache didn't work. Stefen Tower_{s among the rest!} ^{Gab • Gruntwerk} 16:49, 28 June 2024 (UTC)

Documentation not activating

The transclusion of documentation is not activating. It is just leaving a link #invoke:documentation ; is this because the complexity limit has been reached? Can a wikilink to the documentation page be added, so that it is accessible?

The documentation page needs to be shortened. The template plus its documentation exceeds the post-expanded size limit for a Wikipedia page, so the documentation is not loading. Thanks for bringing this up. SilverLocust 💬 05:15, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
