Wiki Education Foundation-supported course assignment
Hello! I plan on making edits to this page within the next month in the sections of side effects, health benefits, and statistical trends. My main focus will be on updating some of the older referenced with more up to date and reliable sources. Krumpp (talk) 17:39, 5 December 2022 (UTC)

These article edits are well done. The recent revision adds new and current content, and improves organization of the topic, smoking cessation. New information on weight gain and treatment, new evidence on depression and anxiety, updated health effects and the number of US smokers using appropriate references citing the CDC, the National Institute of Health and systematic reviews. The format style of the references is appropriate. This edit improves organization and clarification by breaking down the “symptoms” Section into “withdrawl symptoms”

Semi-protected edit request on 19 December 2019
Hi, is there a reason that the medications are in a bullet list template? I find it makes it hard to edit, especially for newer editors. Would anyone disagree if I were to remove them from template and add as normal text? I will leave this up for at least a few days to see who is out there helping with this article. Thanks!

Weight Gain
Why are smokeless and tobacco free alternatives not included?
Hello, I noticed a well-written contribution today adding more detailed info to the weight gain sub-section. I have moved it to the talk page so that we can work to find a WP:MEDRS source, as the PLOS paper is a primary research study (cross-sectional study). Rkrukows thanks for article improvement. Please reach out to the community if you need help finding sources so we can add your sentence back in.

There are smokeless and tobacco free products available in some countries now that can help in smoking cessation. They're like oral inhalers with essential oils. Even some health websites list them in cessation articles. They've been around for long enough that researchers have already published a paper on their use. Why aren't they added to the article?
Here is the content that I moved to the talk page:
<br>Individuals with normal weight or overweight who quit smoking, in particular, gain significant amounts of weight.

stop smoking? have you thought about a smokers rights?
even if you are a doctor or my parent: i enjoy what i enjoy and attacking my choices is not your right to free speech. free speech in not having speech controlled by government and not the right to harass those you disagree with how they choose to live. just so you know. i get angry & start to hate someone when they tell me to live by their choice instead of mine. i have the right to pursue happiness without harassment

as a smoker: every time someone says to stop smoking it is only not Harassment if it is the first time you say it. Repeating unwanted statements at someone is a legal definition of Criminal harassment. i have put up with most people saying to quit smoking because they think it would make my life better. i decide what i enjoy and what i want and repeated verbal attacks to stop smoking are harassment.

so: if you think you have the right to say stop smoking remember i have the right to pursue happiness and that includes enjoying a cigarette. if you interfere with my choosing to smoke you are violating my right to pursue happiness. <!-- Template:Unsigned --><small class="autosigned">—&nbsp;Preceding unsigned comment added by ThoughtlessFool (talk • contribs) 23:33, 30 July 2020 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

Get over it, people these days are too pussified, can't even hear people express a view they dislike without feeling harassed. Nobody's interfering with you choosing to smoke by writing a wikipedia article about quitting. It's not like they're smacking the cigarette out of your hand. <!-- Template:Unsigned IP --><small class="autosigned">—&nbsp;Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.6.117.105 (talk) 17:00, 20 August 2020 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
