First of all, the entire "communist regimes" story of 20th century was created by Russia/USSR. Hence, some historians/philosophers (for example, [[Nikolay Berdyaev]]) considered this to be the story of Soviet [[colonialism]] (aka velikoderzhavny shovinism). Only these two important points/trends (rather than communist ideology) can explain the aggressive course by Russian government today.
