Much appreciated advice, I'll prep more before uploading from now on, thanks. I've previously added public domain notability/refs with links to the British film designers guild, I'll now get to work adding notability to British film designers/production designers. Thanks for being patient.

Hey. Can you explain your deletion and protection of [[Charlotte Wyatt]]? The article did not meet A3, as the user who tagged it first blanked the redirect. There was a redirect/keep edit war earlier, but the redirect was by no means "the right version" (that should be settled at AFD or at the article talk page). The page also did not meet any other speedy criterion and was extensively sourced (13 citations) according to [[Special:Undelete/Charlotte Wyatt]]. Also see [[Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Badlydrawnjeff/Evidence#Charlotte Wyatt]]. Thanks, [[User:Prolog|Prolog]] 15:33, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

There is a discussion here that could benefit from your wisdom, as you have previously made an edit to the article. Hope you can help!! Pedro |  Chat  13:23, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for you input. This article's creator was rather aggressive (to say the least!) so it's nice to have another editor in support. Pedro |  Chat  20:17, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

i looked into the entry (Burauen, Leyte) again today and the part that im referring to has already been deleted. i guess by the writer. Thanks for the concern anyway. :) Ciao! Ging2 14:30, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

Hi, recently the page I created (The End Of The World (Animation))was deleted (I got a notice about speedy deletion on the grounds that the article had already been deleted once, but I thought I covered my bases by putting the 'intents to resist deletion' notice under the deletion notice).

So I'm wondering what I need to do to ensure that it's notable enough. I know it is notable because people on irc, chatrooms, and social bookmarking sites make reference to it occasionally, it being a popular flash video with about the same popularity as schfifty five.

What sources to people usually cite for internet notability?

And finally, I'm kind of new to wikipedia - I saw a red link to this page, so I created an account to create the page, and now it is deleted already. : ( Isn't there some leeway given to people who are just starting out? Thanks--Phixxor 05:51, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Steenbok image

Dear Jim, Sorry...but your image of a male Steenbok is not. It clearly shows white hairs interspersed within the coat, and is therefore a Grysbok. I've never seen either Sharpe's Grysbok or Cape Grysbok, but if you tell me where exactly it was photographed, I'll tell you which it is. I am somewhat envious—I've seen Steenbok and would love to see the two grysboks!—GRM 16:10, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Jim, thanks for that and for moving the image. What I forgot to say earlier was: what was a mediocre-to-good image of a Steenbok, is one cracker of a photo of a Cape Grysbok (try Googling for images of grysbok!)—thanks again. GRM 19:47, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted Post

Jim someone wrote a post about my website Mymarketer.net. I don't have a problem that it was deleted but I am curious what it said and who wrote it. Could you tell me how I can find these things out. Thanks. ~Paul W.

Why was this page deleted? WookMuff 10:03, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If an article fails to cite sufficient sources to demonstrate the notability of its subject, look for sources yourself, or:

   * Ask the article's creator for advice on where to look for sources.
* Put the tag on the article to alert other editors. * If the article is about a specialized field, use the tag with a specific WikiProject to attract editors knowledgeable about that field, who may have access to reliable sources not available online.
Thank you, sorry if I came off brusquely... this is my first created Article and I believe that it is Noteable... I was just stubbing it til more was available, but there is enough independent sourcing out there. If you could retrieve the text that would be great... also, any tips as to how to include the references because... first article WookMuff 10:27, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi... umm... does this help? I am like a blushing bride, sorry, I just don't know how to get an article started... C/net News Article

It mentions the controversy and Warriors for Innocence. I could probably have written a much better article were I not constrained by WP:NOR and WP:NPOV :) WookMuff 10:51, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And the site? does that help? Sorry to be such a bother WookMuff 10:54, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Um, did you mean the C/Net news, cos I meant that. It mentions the organization and the Events, linking the two, and while its not independent, in that it is owned by someone, so are most newspapers. WookMuff 11:04, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I thought that might be the case as it wasn't exactly RIGHT THERE to see, kinda off to the side and with no http or whatever. So yeah, searching I can't really find anything else except 14,200 pages mentioning "warriors for innocence" according to google. Plus I mean the entire LJ community is talking about it, sixapart's ceo has addressed the issue, though I don't think he mentions the organization by name. But yeah, surely the C/net plus the 14,000 pages of relevant if possibly not important content about the organization should be enough at least for the stub that I have made? If so, can you tell me how to add that info so it won't get summarily deleted again? WookMuff 12:40, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, not only has it been deleted again but because I "didn't ask nicely" and "persisted in being rude" This admin has stated that he won't undelete it. Administrator powers are so obviously handed out to only the best and brightest. WookMuff 02:58, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if that sounds like Tattling, I don't mean it so. WookMuff 03:48, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks and, again, sorry for running to you. I felt like a little kid... what do you call it in england, when kids tell on other kids to get them in trouble? We call it dobbing here in Australia and americans seem to call it tattling. Umm, anyways, thank you. WookMuff 08:16, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry guys about how I acted - it's called being a dick - thanks jim for giving me some perspective. I've userfied the article now. Ryan Postlethwaite 09:46, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you speedy deleted the article Just Flight. I found it by pure chance a while ago when I was just doing some searching. I tagged it with the hope that someone might try and expand/fix it - though that clearly did not happen according to the logs. Anyway, thank you for dealing with it. 1. I need an urgent response.....I have been working on this project for a while now, and I should be able to continue to work on this project, right now if I so desire. No one has the right to tell me if I can work on this project. In addition, I am not willing to wait for a long while for your repsonse, until I can work on my own project. 2. Saying that the page is "inappropriate external links" or "spam" is not adequate. You have to tell me why this is so. If you paid any attention at all this issue is addressed on the rapidweaver talk page. 3. You have no right to edit content on my own page. I understand if you don't want it on the rapidweaver page, but I don't see how it harms anyone on my own wikipedia page. 4. You have an obligation to provide the stuff that you deleted. I worked over 10 hours on this project and now I can't find the the work that I have done. You can't just steal all of this code. 5. How dare you delete the page while I was working on. Especially without providing adequate documentation. At least give me a warning. At least let me finish the article. What gives you the right to go on my own page, while I am working, and delete the page? How would you like if I deleted your page within seconds? 6. Please address the following responses on my part:

The links are not a directory but like the old page are intended to be a comprehensive, thourough listing of external links and information on themes and plugins. It is not in anyway used for advertising or promotion. Either way I was going to compile the list, but I figured it would be something that nearly everyone would want access to, and so I decided to share the work that I was planning on doing.

DIRECTORY 1. I am not using Wikipeida to list loosely associated topics 2. I am not lising genealogical entries or phonebook entries 3. I am listing directory entries, TV/Radio guides, or resources for conducting business.

LISTING 1. The sites are not personal web sites or blogs (Even if a few are personal websites the same links existed on the old rapidweaver page). 2. I am not affliated with any of these links. 3. The intention is NOT, nor does that page exist to attract visitors to a website or to promote a site. Ultimately, it is a reference to serve RapidWeaver users not the 3rd party developers or any other interest.

I don't feel that any of the external links are inappropriate. I am simply expanding on the external links (of 3rd party themes and plugins) that were on the old page. Previously, there was a list of exernal links to these developers. I am simply expanding on that by providing hopefully an end-all be-all type reference page detailing all the plugins and themes availabe, by who, for how much and how to access the pages. In addition, I haven't composed the article in a biased way. I think the page will be a valubale resource for any RapidWeaver user and will be a enhancing tool. The price is done is a non-biased way and is not intended to promote any particular company/service, beside RapidWeaver.

After I complete the page, I will be more than happy to move the added info to my personal page if you still desire.

I hope this works.

RapidWeaver2

This is about, that fact that all of my work was deleted from the RapidWeaver page. I moved all my work to me personal page and made additional changes. Then you deleted without warning, all the work that I had done on my user page. Since there is no history page for your user page I can't access the latest version of my work. I can assure you that if you look at the history, my RapidWeaver work was deleted from my user page and the official RapidWeaver page. The title of my post on this page was RapidWeaver, this I think is what you are referring to. I don't know what a "speedy request" is. You deleted my entire user page that did ahve additional work (from the last offical RapidWeaver changes) that I made. I don't know where the "sandbox" is.

The work I did was not spammy. How was it spam? I was acting in a unbiased way with n interest in mine. It wasn't a price list. It was a list of all plugins and themes, with the prices as a reference to users, so they could easily see the prices. Basically, my list was an impartial tool for users. Regardless, I would ALL the code that you deleted. I know I don't own the material, but I would appreciate a headsup: 1. When I am working on the material 2. When it is my personal page 3. When I lose all the work I did 4. When you do it so fast without notice 5. When you don't provide adequate reasoning. IT WAS NOT ADVERTISING. I don't understand how it fails to meet the "notability criteria." It is your obligation to explain this. THERE WAS NOT ADVERTISING ON ANY PAGE. Advertising implies that I am trying to sell a product, which I am not. According to your reasoning, my work should be reinstated, omitting the prices, which I would be more than happy to do. IF YOU LOOK AT THE ORGINAL WORK, WHICH YOU HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO DO, BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES, I WAS SIMPLY EXPANDING ON THE ORIGINAL ARTICLE BY ADDING THE SPEFIC THEMES/PLUGINS TO THE PREXISTING THIRD PARTY LINKS.

RapidWeaver3

As I referenced earlier this is not the latest version. After I moved the material from the RapidWeaver page to my personal user page I had made significant changes. Under the themes list, I had added information on 30 more themes and had the details down to WaterMedia. Where is this version? THAT IS NOT THE PAGE OR VERSION YOU DELETED.

It is not highly promotional nor is it intended to be my any means. Are you a RapidWeaver user? Doesn't sound like it. If you are not, you should not be editing the RapidWeaver page or RapidWeaver content on my page. How did you even find my user page?

Any RapidWeaver user understands how integral themes and plugins are to the use of the program. This is what RapidWeaver is all about. This list and my work came out of the need to have a comprehensive encyclopedic resouce telling users where to find these things. Indeed many of these plugins and themes are free. ONCE AGAIN, AS I STATED EARLIER, THE CURRENT RAPIDWEAVER PAGE, LISTS ALL THE THINGS I LISTED (THEME AND PLUGIN 3RD PARTY DEVELOPERS), WITHOUT THE THROUGHNESS THAT I OFFERED. My list expands upon this and provides an all inclusive list that is even more encyclopedic. I am describing the product, just like the current page is. I am descibing what is available and is INTENDED to enhance the functionality of the program. The material added is not intended to promote it, but explain to RapidWeaver users what can be used to enhance the program. This is my no menas a marketing effort. Non-RapidWeaver users would not even understand those links (thus, the people I would try to be "selling" RapidWeaver to.) Nor, do I have any intention of promoting the add-ons (I have no affliation with any of the add-ons). Notice that this is an effort to list all available themes and plugins and provide the information that RapidWeaver users want. BOTTOM LINE- RAPIDWEAVER USERS WILL FIND THIS INFORMATION EXTEREMELY BENEFICIAL AND ENCYCLOPEDIC, SERVING AS A RESOURCE TO EXPLAIN THE USE AND ENHANCE THE USAGE OF RAPIDWEAVER. I like the sortable table to, and that is why I believe I should be able to AT LEAST display it on my user page.

I added the Kolea information to Pacific Golden Plover because I had been working on Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/Hot/K, which included Kolea. When I did a Google search, the top response was the Pacific Golden Plover, referred to as "Kolea". The top response from other online encyclopedias was a town in Algeria. I created a dab page at Kolea, a new page at Kolea, Algeria, and added the Kolea information to the plover page. I think the one-line mention of the Hawaiian name in the plover article is useful because of the link from the dab page, and because of the apparently well-known use of "kolea" as another name for this bird. Let me know what you think -- thanks, NawlinWiki 14:20, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
