Easterfest (previously known as AGMF) is a Christian pop music event held in Toowoomba, Queensland at Easter each year.[1] The festival is claimed to be Australia's largest drug and alcohol free event[2], and has been informally dubbed "the Christian Big Day Out." [3] [4]
Festival History
The festival was first run in 1999[5] at multiple venues around Toowoomba; from 2001, most events were held in Queen’s Park[6]. The organisers state that over 40,000 people attended the three-day festival in 2005[7], with 20,000 tickets sold in 2006[2].
Name Change
In mid-2007, the organisers announced a name change to "Easterfest"[5], to avoid confusion with traditional acoustic gospel music.[5]
Projected Artists 2008
- Planned for 2008: Matt Corby[8], Jars of Clay, Newsboys, The Lads, MxPx, Project 86, Alabaster Box, and Antiskeptic.[9]
