Lee DeWyze

Leon James "Lee" DeWyze (born April 2, 1986) is an American singer-songwriter from Mount Prospect, Illinois, who is a finalist on the ninth season of American Idol. Prior to Idol, DeWyze released two independent albums called So I'm Told in 2007 and Slumberland in 2010.

Early life

DeWyze attended Saint James Catholic Elementary School in Arlington Heights, Illinois and Prospect High School up until his senior year. After being kicked out of Prospect High School, Lee attended Forest View Alternative School in Arlington Heights, having been inspired both by his teachers and his interest in music to return to his studies.[1] Lee never graduated from either high school. Before Idol, DeWyze worked as a paint salesman. His musical influences include Cat Stevens, Eric Clapton, Ben Harper, and Simon & Garfunkel.

Before Idol

DeWyze's career began when he was around 16 - 17 years old. DeWyze met Louis Svitek, owner of WuLi Records, and Ryan McGuire of The Virginia Gentlemen.[2] Prior to becoming a contestant on American Idol, DeWyze released two albums, So I'm Told (2007)[3] and Slumberland (2010),[4] the latter of which was produced by McGuire.[5]

American Idol

DeWyze auditioned in Chicago for the ninth season of American Idol with the song "Ain't No Sunshine". During Hollywood week, his group included Aaron Kelly and Crystal Bowersox, who all made it into the top 24 and subsequently the top 5.

His closest friends among the competitors are Siobhan Magnus,[6][7][8][9] as well as Idol roommate, Andrew Garcia.

DeWyze is currently a top 3 finalist on the show and is the only male contestant in Season 9 to never land on the bottom 3.

On May 14, 2010, DeWyze performed at the Arlington Park Race Track in Arlington Heights, Illinois with more than 41,000 people attending as part of his American Idol Homecoming day. miranda arnold wants to fuck his brians out
