Description
The small bay of Cala Salada is surrounded by hills of mainly pine tree woodland. Within the cove there are two sandy beaches, of which the smaller beach to the north is called Cala Saladeta. The beaches here are a favourite for the islands residents especially with private boat owners, as no tourist ferries from the busy resorts ever get here. The waters are clean and safe for swimming. Along the near shore there are several rocky outcrops with several rustic fisherman’s huts built into the rocks. At the north western end of the cove there is an area of smooth flat rocks which slope slightly towards the south and makes an ideal spot for sun bathing. There are also some small bathing pools, which are just deep enough to cool your feet and ankles down. This rocky outcrop is called Punta de sa Pedrera and small distance off-shore from here is the small island of Illeta de Cala Salada.

Facilities
There is one beach bar (chiringuito) and restaurant. There are showers and toilets with access for the disabled. There are Loungers, parasols and Pedalo's which can be hired. During the summer months the beach is patrolled by lifeguards.

Getting There
From San Antonio you can drive north on the PM 812 following the signs for Santa Agnès. After 1 kilometre the road climbs into the hills. You should watch for a signpost on your left for Cala Salada, take this road which is mostly asphalt all the way to the cove. There are also a very small number of allocated parking bays for disabled drivers displaying a European blue badge. Be warned, there is not much parking close to the cove and as an alternative you can take a taxi. You can follow a footpath from San Antonio which is a two hour trek from on foot (a difficult walk but rewarding journey).

Cova de ses Fontanelles
If you like to combine pleasure with something a little educational then nearby there are The Caves at Ses Fontanelles (Cave of the Springs). You can reach these by walking a well trodden path up the cliffs away from the beach. The walk is fairly difficult and quite long. When you arrive at the site you will find the cave, which is actually more of an overhanging rock shelter, below the cliff of the Puig Nunó. The cave is protected by a set of heavy railings, a necessary precaution to preserve the only known example of ancient petroglyphs (cave paintings) in the Pitiusic islands. The drawings were discovered by archaeologists in 1917 and they are thought to represent boats and grapes. Experts are unsure whether the paintings are prehistoric or from the Punic era. From the cave it is possible to descend a set of stone steps down to a small cove and the sea. In the late afternoon, from here there are often good views of the sunset that this part of the island is famous for.
