Keys School is an independent school for grades K-8 located in Palo Alto, California. Established in 1973, it is accredited through the California Association of Independent Schools and National Association of Independent Schools. Keys offers a hands-on curriculum with strong academics.

Mission
Keys school is an independent, K-8 school that offers a broad, hands-on curriculum. It fosters high academic achievement and emphasizes balanced growth—intellectual, physical, emotional, and social—for every student. Within in a diverse and supportive community, Keys provides a caring and creative environment that encourages children to love learning, to take intellectual risks, to act as global citizens and to treat others with respect and empathy.

Student body and teachers
Keys School is in the process of expanding to double-sections in every grade. The student to teacher ratio is around 8:1. In the middle school, students often have the same teachers for multiple years which allows students to create strong connections with their teachers.

Facilities
Keys has two campuses, the lower school campus is located at 2890 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto and the new middle school campus is 3981 El Camino Real.

Integrated projects
Integrated Projects at Keys School are projects that include more than one subject. These cross-curricular include a bridge project in 6th grade, the Renaissance Fair in 7th grade, and a Trial in eighth grade which focuses a controversial topic in the news.

Specialty Classes
Keys has many classes of a depth and scope not offered at other schools. Seventh and eighth grades have Spanish four times a week to improve their understanding and fluency in the language.

Music for K-6th is usually once a week, and 2nd-4th have Lower School Chorus every week. There are Spring And Winter concerts, led by Ms. Hodgett, the music teacher. Seventh and eighth do not officially have music, but they participate in a musical each year.

One of the classes in middle school is called Arts Rotation. Seventh and eighth traditionally put on two productions every year - a Drama and a Musical. the first semester is drama, so the students not participating in that have art and Service Learning. The classes switch for the second semester. The combination of grades allows seventh and eighth grade students work together and get to know each other better.
Sports
Keys offers a variety of after school sports including flag football, soccer, basketball, softball, volleyball, tennis and track. There is also a swim meet that occurs once every year. Though the school is not a power house, they do win 2 to 3 games every year and the students have a good time.
