:::: I went and dealt with them, and think what was marked was "many", so thought you meant more. Please check again. I dropped the sentence about how many operas Verdi wrote, but couldn't help thinking that's it's a bit like like blue sky, and not relevant to this one. Commented out for now. --[[User:Gerda Arendt|Gerda Arendt]] ([[User talk:Gerda Arendt|talk]]) 18:30, 9 March 2022 (UTC)

Revision as of 18:31, 9 March 2022

To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.

  • Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
  • Offer a correction if possible.
  • References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
  • Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 11:00 on 6 August 2024) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
  • Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
  • Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
  • No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
  • Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
  • Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

The title for kausheya was changed to remove the disambiguation so the wikilink needs fixed. SL93 (talk) 03:28, 9 March 2022 (UTC)  Erledigt — Maile (talk) 03:41, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • ... that the David Attenborough–narrated curious if this should be a hyphen instead of an ndash. Therapyisgood (talk) 16:22, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
MOS:SUFFIXDASH (penultimate example) says it should be a dash. Bazza (talk) 16:58, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not keen on this at all, it doesn't seem to aid readability to me, but as noted it is what the MOS says. I did consider rewording to eliminate the issue, to
but I'd probably get told off if I did that, so will leave it alone.  — Amakuru (talk) 17:01, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Amakuru: Rewording would certainly make it more natural than the current forced wording. A few scrolls further up to MOS:HYPHEN will reveal the recommendation "...it is often possible to avoid multi-word hyphenated modifiers by rewording (a four-CD soundtrack album may be easier to read as a soundtrack album of four CDs)." I think you should go ahead; your suggestion also has the bonus of putting the bold-linked article first. Bazza (talk) 17:12, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Errors in "On this day"

Not an error:

  • 1842 – Nabucco, an opera by Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi that established his reputation, premiered at La Scala in Milan.

Only, I suggest to bold the link to Nabucco, not Verdi. The work is the more precise and more unusual information. The opera article is great, and I'll propose it for GA, next step. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:48, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Gerda Arendt, I’m sympathetic to your suggestion but there are many uncited paragraphs in the opera article. Schwede66 17:54, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Plots don't need cites. Some minor ones I commented out. I also asked for help on Project opera. Sadly the principal author Viva Verdi, died. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:58, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I had gone through and placed a few (5?) citation needed tags and you may note that I didn’t tag the plot section. Schwede66 18:03, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I went and dealt with them, and think those marked were not "many", so thought you meant more. Please check again, Schwede66. I dropped the sentence about how many operas Verdi wrote, but couldn't help thinking that's it's a bit like like blue sky, and not relevant to this one. Commented out for now. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:30, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
