Kathleen Peters is a member of the Florida House of Representatives (elected in 2012), former mayor of South Pasadena, Florida (2009–2012) and was a member of the South Pasadena City Commission in 2008. She is a Democratic Party candidate in Florida's 13th congressional district special election, 2014. She resides in South Pasadena. Peters and her husband have four children and four grandchildren.
