Shakthika Sathkumara (Sinhala: ශක්ති සත්කුමාර;[1] born 1985/1986)[2] is a writer and civil servant from Sri Lanka.[3] In 2019, he published a short story that was said to insult Buddhism, which has led to legal case against him with Sathkumara facing up to 10 years in jail.[4][5][6] Organizations such as Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, Amnesty International and PEN International have criticized the prosecution for infringing on Sathkumara's free speech rights.[7][3][8][9][10][11]
