The Tianeti Uyezd (Russian: Тионетский уезд; Georgian: თიანეთის მაზრა) was an uezd (county) of the Tiflis Governorate of the Caucasus Viceroyalty of the Russian Empire, and then of Democratic Republic of Georgia, with its administrative center in Tianeti.[1][2] The area of the uyezd roughly corresponded to the contemporary Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of Georgia.

History

Following the Russian Revolution, the Tianeti Uyezd was incorporated into the short-lived Democratic Republic of Georgia.

Administrative divisions

The uchastoks (sub-counties) of the Tianeti Uyezd were:[3]

  • Pshavi-Khevsureti (Пшаво-Хевсуретский участок)
  • Tushin-Kakheti (Тушино-Кахетинский участок)
  • Ertsoi (Эрцойский участок)

Demographics

Caucasian Calendar of 1917

The 1917 Caucasian Calendar which produced statistics of 1916 indicates 49,350 residents in the Tianeti Uyezd, including 24,402 men and 24,948 women, 48,666 of whom were the permanent population, and 684 were temporary residents:[4]
