The Benthozoa or Myriazoa are a proposed basal animal clade consisting of the Porifera and Parahoxozoa as sister of the Ctenophora.[1] An alternative phylogeny is given by the Porifera-sister hypothesis in which Porifera are the first diverging animal group.
