Keron took his first musical steps in the late 90s. He started to write lyrics, to rap, and experimented with tools for sampling and beats creation along with high school friends from the Hope Pastures neighborhood. [1][2] At that time, he used the living room at home for his first studio work and recording attempts.[2]

After graduating from high school in 2002, Keron moved to Fort Lauderdale and gained further experience, mainly in the hip-hop environment. It was around this time that Keron chose his stage name, a combination of a Ugandan royal title Kabaka and the Egyptian building Pyramid. On the one hand, as a self-confessed Rastafarian, he wanted to express his attachment to Africa, and on the other hand, his fascination for Egypt and places of higher knowledge, which he sees reflected in song lyrics. [4] After the first more rap-oriented mixtape releases, a stronger turn to reggae began in 2007 through the collaboration with Bebble Rock. [5]

In 2011 he recorded the EP Rebel Music completely in Protoje's home studio. In 2013 he met Damian Marley for the first time, which led to the joint work Well Done, to which Marley contributed the On The Corner Riddim and Kabaka Pyramid the lyrics. The collaboration continued, Marley produced the album Kontraband as well as 5 songs from the album The Kalling, which was recorded entirely in Marley's studio in Miami.
